Description

Hi!! My name is Hannah. I’m 23, and a tree planter from Vancouver, Canada! I love my home but have been wanting to travel for a long time so here I am! I love volunteering, meeting new people, building community, and working outside.

I have a bachelors degree in neuroscience and have been on a break from my education these past few years. During my time off of school, I have lived in several different places throughout Canada, worked for the government, worked in hospitality, became an avid skier, dabbled in van life, explored my interests and discovered new ones! Most recently I have dedicated myself to tree planting during the summer season in Canada- it has been a unique opportunity to live and work in some of the most remote places in the country. I've been taking on the responsibilities of driving, assistant crew-bossing, and first aiding in addition to planting and have learned so much about reforestation, teamwork and community, and most importantly, myself! :)

I have wanted to go travelling for some time now but haven't been able to due to school, covid, or financial setbacks. This opportunity to travel, learn about other cultures and connect with others has me feeling so lucky and so excited to see what's ahead. I welcome the challenges that come from solo travel and am excited to learn about myself in the process. :)

- I finished my bachelors in 2021 and since then I have been tree planting during my summers in Canada! I have lots of experience working and living outside, living in a camp environment, driving trucks, building a camp, anything to do with reforestation. I understand the discipline and hard physical work that is often required for building/farming projects but I welcome the challenges that come with it— I find that kind of work really fun!

- I’m a quite social person and enjoy getting to know those I work/live with beyond a surface level and love working and collaborating with others!

- I also enjoy working with my hands including crafting and cooking.

- Additionally, I love work that requires connecting with other people. In my bachelors program I spent lots of time volunteering at a program pairing students with children in the community with intellectual disabilities, an experience which I found immensely rewarding.

- I’ve also spent lots of time working in the public sector! Customer service, working as a barista, and serving!

- Something I also have practical experience in is first aid; I used to work as a lifeguard for Parks Canada and most recently I have been working as a first aid attendant for my planting camp.

- I also grew up with dogs and love caring for them as well as other pets and animals.

I love all types of music! I love to sing and have dabbled in the guitar. I also LOVE swimming, especially in a lake or in the ocean. I love exploring new cities and towns and learning about other cultures, meeting and connecting with new people to build community. I also enjoy reading and journaling every day. I enjoy doing yoga and although I am not experienced I am really interested in practicing meditation. I also love playing cards— my all time favourite game is cribbage ;)
