  • Description

    Hi! My name is Gwenllian.
I'm an artist, having studied and lived in London for five years, before moving to North Wales. For the past two years, I've been working for a not-for-profit organisation alongside my art practice, developing community gardens, allotments, and other food and wellbeing projects with my local community.
My home is nestled between the mountains and sea in Wales. I'm happiest outside, be that hiking mountains, swimming in the sea or lakes, gardening, drawing, exploring... the list goes on! Anything creative gives me a lot of joy :)
I see this as a great opportunity to meet new people, and learn from a range of different life experiences and cultures. Spending time with people, as well as working and collaborating with others within my art practice and community work, is something I really enjoy and value. Although the arts, community resilience and sustainable food systems really interest me, I'm looking forward to learning and growing from new experiences!

  • More details about your skills

For the past two years, I have been working as a food and wellbeing facilitator for a not-for-profit organisation in North Wales. As a part of this work, I've been developing two community gardens, an allotment site, a community pantry and food hub, as well as organising and leading a variety of creative workshops.
It's a very social job; I co-ordinate and lead volunteer sessions in our gardens, run a gardening club for the local primary and secondary schools, organise and host public events, and as a team we’re constantly working together and supporting each other.
Often I host creative workshops for children and adults through my art practice, as well as using my creative and practical skills to make artworks (drawings, sculptures, installations) to basic DIY.
I also have experience of teaching, being employed by the British Council to be an English Teaching Assistant at two different secondary schools in Vienna. Sometimes I supported the teacher, but often I would plan lessons and teach classes independently.
Otherwise, I've also worked in hospitality and in customer facing environments, e.g. working in a pub and as a visitor experience assistant in various art galleries and museums for five years.
