Description
Hey there, my name is Gemma! I was born and raised in a small town in B.C, Canada. I was raised by both of my parents, along with 8 of my siblings. Growing up I shared the same love for travel as my family. I often go on road trips all over North America, with the goal to learn more about other cultures, appreciate our worlds diversity, and not to mention explore our beautiful planet!
Since my families 9 month trip around North America, in 2017-2018, I have been longing for my next adventure. Now being graduated from secondary school, I have set out to fulfill this goal! I am hoping to find an au pair position, preferably, but am also very keen on learning/ working on anything and everything about the agricultural side of things! Coming from a family full of chefs/ cooks/ bakers, I very much enjoy baking and cooking. So would love to help in a kitchen!
The past couple years I have worked in costumer service, and have fallen in love with the community that comes with it. I've worked as a prep cook/dishwasher, in a small restaurant. As well as a barista at my local traditional Italian coffee shop. Alongside my costumer service jobs, I have also worked as a part-time and full-time nanny within the past 5 years. I have worked as a babysitter/nanny in my hometown, with many different families. Due to having a large family, I have always been surrounded by children, whether it be my siblings, cousins or the children of some family friends. I've also volunteered at my local daycare for a short period of time.
While being in Australia, I'm hoping to find paid work alongside a work exchange. Even as little as a a couple hours a week, would be great! although if this isn't possible it's not a deal breaker for me! I'm aiming to leave Australia in December, so I'd be able to stay for roughly 3 months.
I'd love to find a family that is open to making me apart of their own family, and including me in some of their events!Interests

For the past 3 years I've been working primarily in the food/ service industry. From cooking, to barista work, I have been able to explore my creativity in the kitchen, to understand the importance of hard work, customer service and to control stress levels in high pressure environments.
Along with my previous occupations, I have been a full-time and part-time nanny, providing child care for many different families. Without a doubt nannying has helped me enhance my communication skills, problem solving, as well as planning activities, especially for children.
Throughout the years I've also picked up occasional jobs, which include; gardening, yard work, animal sitting, and house cleaning.Age
