Description
I'm a 22 year old female solo backpacking New Zealand. I was born in Australia but moved to England at only 5 years old and have lived here ever since, so I am now on a solo backpacking trip to explore more of Australia and New Zealand! I'm always wanting to explore and adventure in the outdoors being a keen runner, climber and hiker. I love a physical challenge, like a long hike or a hard boulder problem, and I find the sense of achievement after completing it gets me excited for the next challenge.
During my travels, I want to learn about and experience true kiwi culture as well as meeting people who have travelled all over the world and hearing their stories. I'm just building up my 'bank' of travel stories with this being my first completely solo trip, after travelling Europe last summer for 6 weeks both with friends and alone. My aim is to see everything New Zealand has to offer and really play it by ear. I realised travelling previously that some of the best places to visit are those you hear about from others, not from google!
Since graduating from studying psychology at university in 2023, I have been saving up for my travels working two jobs a both a cafe and a pub (so I know how to cook and clean well!). When not at work, I'll be either climbing (at my local indoor bouldering centre), running or cycling in the countryside, or helping to coach my local junior running club. I'm really keen to build up the skills I already have and gain some more to take home with me - like gardening or some DIY.Interests

Having worked in a cafe for 6 years I made many coffees, milkshakes, cooked breakfasts and lunches - I also enjoy cooking (learnt a lot from my dad) and baking in my own time.
Across my hospitality jobs, I have done a lot of general cleaning - mopping and hoovering floors, cleaning toilets, washing up, sweeping/raking leaves outside etc.).
I love teaching other people about the things I am passionate about, so I'm always taking friends climbing for their first time and showing them the 'ropes'. When I volunteer at my local junior running club I lead the warm-up/cool-downs and help help with technique and pacing - I find it so refreshing to run around with a group of kids who are so full of energy!
In addition to my degree in psychology, I have also worked as an assistant psychologist in a children's hospital, volunteered for an online mental health helpline and completed an additional qualification on autism, which have all given me experience with and understanding of a diverse range of people. I also have had work experience in a children's day nursery and in a care home for elderly people.Age
