  • Description

I was expelled from school at an early age, basically for not taking it seriously (when I was there), then after an easy life checking football coupons for two days a week, became apprenticed as a church pipe organ builder before eventually running away to be a London sewerman, ‘finally’ settling down as a bicycling piano tuner. Becoming bored with the same 88 notes I went on to explore far too many careers to fit in one short paragraph.

However, after being a jazz pianist, day labourer, highly paid oil-industry technical clerk, the only vegetarian steak chef in Bristol, starting a family, jobbing carpenter, self-taught antique restorer and furniture designer to the gentry, then building up an organic home delivery service employing 12 people, winning the Organic Food award 1997 for our tropical muesli - I decided to take time out to retrain in computer media techniques, started building and repairing computers, making bespoke commercial and wordpress websites, then taught myself PHP/MySQL programming to build an entire online shopping portal/back office system for the licensed organic box-scheme run by friends.

Opportunity came my way to build my own luxury low-impact ecohome in Scotland, which briefly gained international notoriety for being built without planning permission and costing only £4000. Had several articles published in the UK permaculture magazine, started running larger design & build projects with teams of volunteers onsite, fed, entertained and taught a variety of building skills. I still want to teach and inspire others to do likewise, but now with focus on sacred proportion and the energetic influences it exerts on structures, place, and the people within. Having spent several years helping develop a community in an abandoned pueblo in the Spanish mountains, I decided to make the effort to actually visit some of the many places in this world that have long intrigued me, and what's more, to do this as a solar-powered ebike tour - with all the many problems that has proved to entail! Lots more infos and pics at my website envisioneer.net

As if that wasn’t enough: I have long-standing and wide ranging interests in the true history of humanity, evolution of the family and sexuality since ancient times, both ancient and radically alternative current technologies, and sacred economics which I am happy to bore people with on request. And to finish off this paeon of self-praise: I am an accomplished improvisational musician, playing mostly piano, low whistle, guitar and percussion, nothing I like more than a few folk jamming and singing round a fire!

If all this seems a bit much, remember I have had a lot of time to fit it all in...
