  • Description

    Nice to meet you !

I'm Maxime, a 30-year old french social worker who just flew into New Zealand on a work holiday visa.

I think of myself as enthusiastic, easy to get along with, and a hard worker. I am quiet and organised, always with a smile on my face and a musical theatre tune on my lips. I love learning new things, the outdoors, cooking, being in contact with nature and animals (horses especially) and music (I play the guitar and the viola). I love arts & crafts, learning languages... Among many other things !

I am looking forward to helping you, discovering the culture of New Zealand and learning new things in the process !

More details about my language interests
I love learning languages, but unfortunately have few opportunities to learn from other people. I speak a few words of Italian, French sign language, Turkish... But not enough to really get by. I would especially love to become fluent in Polish and Turkish, as well as learning Maori. I'd be thrilled to teach you French, especially if I can learn from you as well!

  • More details about your skills

I am a bit of a jack of all trades (master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one !). I enjoy learning new skills, especially manual work.

First of all, my professional experience as a social worker has allowed me to develop essential communicational, relational and conflict resolution skills which are very valuable in my everyday life.

In regards to creative skills, I am a musician (guitar / viola), with a professional background in photography & videography. I love the arts in general, whether it is theatre, fine arts or literature. I also crochet / knit, draw a little, write some... I dabble in a little of everything!

I like to garden, cook, work with wood, I enjoy construction/house work as well - I'm happy to help with anything! Happy to paint, do some repair, build pallet furniture, whatever is needed. Also happy to do house work, organize and clean. I really enjoy maintaining a tidy environment.

I have worked as a stable hand at my local riding school and even helped give beginner riding lessons. I am not afraid to put in the hard physical work associated with barn tasks. I ride English at an intermediate level. Caring for horses and riding has been my passion for years, and I strive to learn as much as I can in that regard, especially natural horsemanship.

I have had the incredible chance of developing some sailing skills after spending a couple of months on sloops on Atlantic and Mediterranean waters. I look forward to doing some more sailing, perhaps off the Kiwi coasts!

    • Special dietary requirements
I am a pescitarian (I eat fish but not meat), as a general rule of "why would I eat what I am not willing to kil myself". But I am not closed to the idea of trying meat again if I am involved in the process as a whole.
