Hi! My name is Emma and I've been living in Tarifa working as an English teacher since September 2023 until May 2024. I've had such a great time down here in Andalucía, and I'd love to explore un poco rincon of Northern Spain after I finish, meeting kindred spirits, practicing my Spanish further, and finding a community away from home. I have had three wonderful work-away experiences, one on an organic farm in Sweden, one on a smallholding on the Isle of Lismore in Scotland, and one on a farm in the mountains in Romania. I treasure these experiences- I loved being in touch with nature, working and living as part of a community.

In June 2023 I graduated from Glasgow University in English Literature. I enjoy reading, writing, music and hiking- and pretty much everything else too! I love workaway because it is important to me that I travel in a sustainable way, appreciating local cultures and connecting with other people and the environment as I go.

I used to work as a cleaner, and have good people skills from working in coffee shops and charity bookshops. I really enjoy cooking and baking, and often make dinner for my friends. I am an enthusiastic amateur gardener- I have worked on a couple of community gardens and growing vegetables in pots helped me through the lockdown in March 2020!
