Description
I am a clear-eyed and big-hearted human looking to learn from others, make meaningful connections to people and the Earth, use my mind and body in enriching ways, and keep my (and others') sense of wonder alive.
Some things that bring me alive are: nature (lakes, rivers and oceans; birds and bugs; the sky); books (essays, poetry, and scientific non-fiction especially); sailing; music; people and communities with good intentions.
I recently finished my undergraduate studies and since then have worked in outdoor education, healthcare research, sailing, and the service industry.
I'm especially interested in experiences that will complement my interests in ecology, regenerative land care, Earth sciences, and where I can learn new applied skills (e.g., building techniques, mechanical repairs, navigation, documentary)Interests

More details about your skills
Happy to do physical work outdoors, all weather all projects. Keen to learn and energetic.
I am experienced in things like:
- boat maintenance/sailing
- land care/management
- cooking
- landscaping
- research/writing
- photography /videography
-organization/planning/outreach
- interpretation (natural/cultural)
- teaching/tutoring
- social service/youth support
I have an eclectic skillset but my main virtues are curiosity, good-humor, and kindness. You can rely on me to help in meaningful ways and exhibit a depth of care for places and projects.
I am driven by wonder, love of the Earth and its creatures and cultures, and care, care, care. Care above all. Care for water, for soil, for all life, for humanity. For everything that is here.
I studied cognitive science and anthropology in university and went on to work in research, recently shifting into work guiding as a natural history interpreter. Then sailing -- alongside topics like weather, marine ecology, earth science, astronomy --stole my heart and now I'm ready to continue applying my body and mind in pursuit of worthwhile explorations.
I lived on a 104-year old steel-hulled main topsail schooner for 8 months where I stood watches and maintained the boat (servicing blocks, whipping and splicing, chipping rust and painting, repairing nets, patching sails, oiling, tarring, etc.) I'm quick to take to new skills and a good sport when it comes to taking care of a space, whether it's a piece of land or a boat.
I write well and read voraciously, learning fast and passionately about the environments that I'm in and the projects I'm on. This proves practically helpful in many ways but my favorite application is in service of wonder and enrichment.
I've been trained in Advanced Wilderness First Aid, I'm certified to use marine VHF radios, I'm a mental health Crisis Responder.
I write and take photographs.Age
