Hello everyone! I am looking for a work away for August 2023.

Here is a little bit about me: I grew up in Lebanon as a child and attended high school (Washington DC) and university (Saint Louis, Missouri) in America. I have two younger brothers and have spent a lot of my teenage years cooking, babysitting, and cleaning the house. In college, I majored in Biochemistry, Spanish, and Jazz music (I play the tenor sax, piano, and flute). I have worked as a paid Spanish/English-Arabic interpreter in a Syrian refugee camp, and also spent time studying Traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan. I have many travel and work experiences I am happy to share with you during our workaway.

I will attend Johns Hopkins medical school in October 2023 to study surgery, so I would like to spend this last summer before medical school traveling and learning more about the world. Ideally, I would like to improve my French!

Life is about learning as much as you can while giving a helping hand to as many people as possible along the way. I am not shy of working hard and am expecting to contribute significantly to anything you need in exchange for housing and/or meals.

I am a lover of art and exploration. I enjoy being pushed out of my comfort zone when it comes to food, culture, and adventure! I love to collaborate with others on projects and exchange ideas. I have a wide range of experience from basic construction work, music performance, technological assistance, tutoring commercial painting, farming, costume design, and housekeeping. I would love to learn some good recipes, new skills, and get down the ropes of sustainable living! Looking forward to connecting with you all!

I love languages! I grew up speaking Arabic and Spanish in Lebanon. When I moved to America as a child, I learned English fluently. In college, I studied abroad in Taiwan, learning both about Traditional Chinese Medicine and Mandarin Chinese language. I would love to do a language exchange in any of these languages! I am interested in learning French.

I have extensive experience in music and the sciences - I am happy to tutor in jazz/classical performance, math, chemistry, biology, physics, etc.

I also speak many languages fluently - Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, English, and Spanish. I am happy to do a language exchange.

In the past I have been employed as a house painter, babysitter, cook (several times), barista and housekeeper. I can easily adapt to any task given and I am not afraid to ask questions if I don’t understand. I am friendly and love to work in a team atmosphere but also don’t mind tackling a task by myself if need be :). I love working with kids, older relatives, as well as taking care of animals or plants.
