  • Description

We are an easy going couple from Melbourne, who are both University graduates taking some time off to travel. We love being in the outdoors, exploring new places, learning about different cultures and meeting new friends.
Jack has lived in Melbourne, Geneva and London, has his Bachelor's degree in Architecture and is passionate about caring for animals, cooking and snowboarding. He has worked as a professional chef for the past 3 years, but also has experience as bar staff and in construction.
Bella recently finished her Bachelor's degree in Criminology, and has been backpacking through Southeast Asia and working as a canoe trip guide in Canada for the past year. She has several years experience waitressing and working as a retail assistant, and for the past 4 years has been a receptionist at a high-end day spa.

  • More details about your skills

    Bella -
As I've worked the last two summers at a canoe tripping camp, I have a great deal of experience working with and entertaining kids (ages 7-16) . I really loved getting to spend time with the campers in the outdoors, and helping them to feel comfortable and have fun in what was often a very new environment for them. Moreover, I have several years experience in customer service roles, and genuinely love getting to meet and speak to new people every day. I am efficient in my work and have a good eye for detail, and take pride in providing a positive experience to customers whether at a cafe, wine bar, retail store or day spa. I thrive in a social workplace and keep a very level head under pressure, and I look forward to meeting you!

    Jack -
After finishing my degree I worked for six months as a labourer in construction; building interior spaces, roofing and demolition. This has given me practical skills as a physical labourer and working with tools, combined with my knowledge of architecture and inclination toward art and creativity, I make for a great handyman. I've also worked as a chef for a number of years now, in fine dining and Michelin Star establishments. As well as being able to put together a delicious meal, my experience as a chef has given me a keen eye for detail, a great ability to work well in a team, and a very strong work ethic (80 hour work weeks were the norm in hospitality). As a big animal lover, I often took in and cared for injured wildlife growing up, so I would love to look after pets/farm animals through work away too. I can also play a range of instruments, guitars, banjos, pianos - and I'd love to teach or play for you, your kids or any guests who might be interested.

  • What else ...

We're just at the beginning of our travels together, having been in Vancouver, London and Switzerland before setting off to the Balkans/Eastern Europe. We cannot wait to learn more about Eastern European cultures and ways of living, and intend to travel slowly and work along the way so that we are able to continue exploring for a number of months. We want to go off the beaten path and have unique experiences in lesser-travelled areas, which we think makes workaway the perfect opportunity! We are fun-loving and get along easily with others, and hope to continue meeting lovely people on our way.
