  • Description

I have always been drawn to working with children, from working in a Dyslexic Summer camp, as an early-years playworker at an Adventure Playground for 4 years, for the next few months I will be a teacher at a Sailing school and next year when I go back home, I am planning on becoming a teacher. I have experience with all ages from 3-4 to teenagers, I love spending time with a diversity of different ages.

While working at the adventure playground was able to give local nurseries the confidence to take the children outside to play in unstructured environments. I was also involved in an artist workshop called ‘Growth,’ emphasising awareness of environmental issues. It is funded by Glasgow Can and will be an outreach program getting local families in Dalmarnock accessibility to the Arts. This is a wonderful platform for me to give my voice, energy and creativity in support of environmental issues.

I love sharing new practical skills and building relationships with people around me. I came to release this through my studies at the Glasgow School of Art constantly wanting to be in the metal, wood and casting workshop and have a lot of experiences with these materials. Also, at the end of last year, I completed a course Called Women in Construction, where they taught us the basics of joinery, tillering, plastering and bricklaying. I have a very practical mind when it comes to making or solving anything. I will use my social and creative skills and absolute dedication to fix and build anything. Honestly, I would just love to embrace Guatemalan culture and improve my Spanish. I am happy to muck in anywhere with any part of my skills whatever you need!
