  • Description

Hello there! We are a couple, Ally (she/her) from the U.S. and Bea (they/them) from the U.K. We are creative souls looking for opportunities to travel, be present with our surroundings, meet new friends, and exchange knowledge with like minded people. We want to be around people who are passionate about what they do, work hard, and try their best to keep a positive outlook on life, and in return we promise to value your projects and home just the same.

About Ally: My background is in photo/videography, herbalism, permaculture, and horseback riding. I adapt well to my surroundings and different personalities. I'm looking to learn from my host and contribute all that I can, whether it be cooking lovely vegetarian meals, helping around the house, with the animals, garden, or immersing in any other projects on the property! I am a strong, fit woman and have general handy skills and will rise to most physical jobs. I would love to help you with anything mentioned in my skill set and anything you teach me! I am especially interested in learning about permaculture, building cob homes and tiny homes, communal living, and house restoration. I enjoy yoga, meditation, journaling, and energy healing on my own time. I love music, dancing and singing, and play the ukulele and guitar.

I've directed, produced, and shot a beautiful film for a regeneration project in Portugal and it was incredibly stimulating for my creative being, and a huge boost for the project. At another volunteering experience I taught gardening workshops for the volunteers and guests. I teach herbalism workshops back home in NY and manage a community pay-what-you-can garden that feeds our neighborhood, as well as a nonprofit community space. I'm totally devoted to creating or being in community everywhere I go and like to explore how we can live in a post-commerical and captialist society. I have personal 5-star feedback from my previous Workaway account if requested.

About Bea: I am an optimistic, open-minded and hard-working person. My main passions lie in the conservation of the environment, animal welfare and human rights activism. I spent the past year on various permaculture projects and would love to continue my learning on how to live in a way which is self-sustainable and operate peacefully with others as a community. I spent 3 months in South America traveling to various eco-projects.

Additionally, I am a very spiritual person, with a desire to connect with earth that surrounds me - I am at my happiest in natural settings! I am a fully qualified Reiki Master, and am concerned with the emotional and mental wellbeing of others. I have experience in facilitating healing circles and meditation events. I also have photography, web design and marketing experience. My current professional work is in giving remote/in-person Angelic Reiki and social media marketing. I am a very creative person; interested in art, yoga, gardening and vegan cooking. I love to form meaningful connections with those around me, and also have fun! Furthermore, I really enjoy being around and looking after young children.

We’re at the stage now in our lives where we travel a bit less and work more because we are putting roots down together in NY, so we’re thrilled we can return to Europe this year. The international friends we’ve met volunteering have completely changed the trajectory of our lives.

Long story short - We will set off to travel Europe in late fall (start of November to mid-December) to discover more about homesteading and hopefully earthen building. We’re interested in stays a month or a little more long, and are open to returning again and again if we hit it off!

A note, we need to be in living environments that are actively anti-racist, sexist, and homophobic, please. :)

  • More details about your skills

Us as a team: We’ve done multiple volunteering projects together and apart now and most people seem to enjoy using our digital skills (Ally with photos and videos, Bea with social media marketing, website design, and photography) to create some photos for their eco-project. Ally’s personality is a bit more firey and direct, also grounded, while Bea is the softest, most gentle and loving person you’ll ever meet (Ally wrote this). Together we really balance each other out and can collectively give others some pretty great advice, or so we’ve been told!
