Hello! My name is Avery Sison, and I am a 21 year old who is spending some time in between schooling to explore and travel abroad. This year, I am going to be traveling throughout New Zealand on a holiday working visa! This is my first year-long solo trip, so I am very excited to see what this experience will bring and teach me. I have family who had previously lived in New Zealand for a number of years, so this is also partially a reason as to why I want to explore the country.

Some of my main interests include hiking, swimming, camping, volleyball, and snowboarding. I also enjoy other pastimes such as drawing, picnicking, thrifting, reading, and searching for new music!

For my upbringing, I was born in San Francisco, California, and since then, I've moved around the United States a few times. For the past 6 years, I've been living in a pacific northwestern city called Spokane, Washington. Being in Spokane has really let me appreciate the beauty of the outdoors, and it partially is what has allowed me to get into camping and backpacking. Before that, my family lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I spent the majority of my childhood. I appreciate both places in their own ways.

Another fun fact is that I love animals! Right now I have a dog named Tucker, who is a border collie/aussie mix, and a short-haired grey and white cat named Xavi (pronounced like chavie).

Along with Workaway, I am also signed up for WWOOFing, and so one of my main goals for this trip is that the participation in these programs will help me gain insight and appreciation for different New Zealand lifestyles and cultures. All in all, I am looking forward to this journey!!

My last job I was employed as a barista at a cafe (which I found really fun), and I am also skilled in working in a kitchen. I've had previous jobs as a pizza chef, and I also have experience with wedding and event music coordination. I also have previous babysitting and petsitting experience, and so I am always eager to take care of children or animals! I am able to adapt easily, and I am willing to do any work or projects that are offered! I really appreciate a job well done, so I make it my goal to do the best that I can at each given task. I love trying new things, and I enjoy making others happy!!
