Description
Hey there!
We are Antonia and Helene and we are from a small town in Germany. We have finished school just this summer and are doing a year of work and travel next, hoping to make some of the greatest memories of our lives. We love doing creative things like drawing, making music and baking but we also find great comfort in nature and things like hiking and canoeing. Of course all these activites are the most fun with other people though. We would absolutely love to break out of the everyday-life that we have gotten used to and experience some new things, get to know different cultures, learn and have some fun along the way!

The skills we both share are the ability to work with people, we are very social beings and have expertise in customer service and sales. Aditionally, we had the opportunity to gain knowledge in babysitting and child minding. We both are familiar with basic household chores like cleaning, washing, cooking and baking.
Furthermore we are very artistic, while Antonia can draw and paint, Helene can play several instruments and is very interested in music.

We had the most amazing time at Michelle and Len‘s place. The experience couldn’t have been more perfect in our eyes. The whole property is one of the most gorgeous places we ever got to call home. It is so peaceful and you feel the built up stress leaving immediately. During our stay we got to live in Grandpa Len‘s house which was a big honour.… read more The house is beautiful and so homely, same as the main house.

In November and December, our work consisted mainly of preparing the Ranch for the upcoming winter and of course feeding and caring for the animals. All the animals on the farm are so lovable, from the horses to the cats and dogs, everyone is special and gets treated as such. It is truly remarkable how much time and energy Michelle puts into her animals and their wellbeing.

We liked being here so much, we came back in March for calving. This was a very demanding task but the most amazing thing we ever experienced. We got to witness multiple calves being born, had to bottle feed and be helpers to an assisted birth. Through all of this, Michelle was always there with support or wise words when we needed them but at the same time trusted us with difficult tasks and never made us feel like we were beginners (which we definitely were)!

The three months we spent on the Ranch were the best thing that happened to us, we learned so much, not just about farming, but also about life. Len and Michelle are amazing people, they’re so funny and you’ll feel like your part of the family in no time. Just hanging out with them in the evenings, laughing and learning how to cook were some of our favourite moments. Their cooking is to die for, we’ve had some of the best food we have ever eaten at their house.

We would absolutely recommend staying with Len and Michelle, if you have the right attitude and are eager to learn and help, you will get your efforts back tenfold. Truly, you will never regret experiencing life on the Ranch with them and all their animals.

Len and Michelle, we can never thank you enough for having us on your Ranch. Although we have only stayed with you for a relatively short time, the Farm has become like a second home to us, thanks to the animals and especially to the both of you. We cannot express how lucky we are to have got to meet you! We miss you lots and will definitely come visit every time we’re back in Canada!
