Michael and Silvia gave me a very warm welcome from the start. They down to earth people and make a great team in running their falconry business, not to mention looking after their 3 dogs and 4 horses. Michael also hunts and gives training for the national German falconer licence. Both really welcomed any help I was willing to give, and… read more appreciated the work done. They like people who can take the initiative. In the two weeks I was there, I helped look after/feed the falcons and hawks, inspected hunting areas in the woods with Michael, repaired wild boar damage to a field, stacked wood, rolled out hay for the horses, burned a mountain of cardboard, and did some general cleaning and preparation for the winter. The surrounding the woods are great for walks. Michael and Silvia will both make you feel right at home, offering lots of laughs, good conversation, a comfortable bed in a spacious room and lots of food, especially game meat. Several friends and helpers visit each week and it was lovely to meet them too. Thank you for a lovely time and for a deep insight into what it means to be a professional falconer!
Michael und Silvia haben mich von Anfang an sehr herzlich empfangen. Sie sind bodenständige Menschen und bilden ein großartiges Team, wenn es darum geht, ihren Falknereibetrieb zu führen, ganz zu schweigen von der Betreuung ihrer 3 Hunde und 4 Pferde. Michael jagt auch und gibt Ausbildungen für die deutsche Falknerlizenz. Beide haben jede Hilfe, die ich ihnen geben wollte, sehr geschätzt und die geleistete Arbeit geschätzt. Sie mögen Leute, die die Initiative ergreifen können. In den zwei Wochen, die ich dort war, habe ich geholfen, die Falken und Habichte zu versorgen/zu füttern, habe mit Michael Jagdgebiete im Wald inspiziert, Wildschweinschäden auf einem Feld ausgebessert, Holz gestapelt, Heu für die Pferde ausgerollt, einen Berg Pappe verbrannt und einige allgemeine Reinigungs- und Wintervorbereitungen durchgeführt. Die umliegenden Wälder eignen sich hervorragend für Spaziergänge. Michael und Silvia werden dafür sorgen, dass Sie sich wie zu Hause fühlen, mit viel Lachen, guten Gesprächen, einem bequemen Bett in einem geräumigen Zimmer und viel Essen, insbesondere Wildfleisch. Mehrere Freunde und Helfer kommen jede Woche zu Besuch und es war schön, auch sie kennenzulernen. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit und den tiefen Einblick in den Beruf des Falkners!
