  • Description

    Hello :)
My name is Amy and I am 20 years old. I'm from Germany, where I went to school for 13 years. In the summer of 2022 I finished school and now I can finally do what I've always dreamed of: a solo trip to different places around the world.

My hometown is a small village near Karlsruhe. It's a rather rural area with fields and forests, a big river and some lakes where it's good to swim in summer.
In winter I like to go snowboarding in the Black Forest or in Austria and in the other seasons I like to go hiking, skating (I also want to learn how to surf), cycling, I just like to do sports and I am always ready for a new adventure!
Of course there are also calm hours/weeks and I fill them with meeting friends, reading, upcycling clothing, listening to music or improving my yoga skills. I am also interested in meditation and massage, which I would like to learn more about.
At home we have two cats and two turtles. I like animals in general and like to take care of them because I think it is important to treat them well, they are such lovable creatures.

I am an open minded person who is looking for new experiences and hoping to meet new people around the world. It will be my first time traveling alone and I am very excited and nervous, but also confident and curious about what the future holds :) My plan is to firstly go to southeast asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand) and later to Oceania. This trip is important for me because, so far, I do not really know what I want to learn or study. I really hope to get inspired during the next couple of months and to learn more about myself.

I went to the Rudolf-Steiner-School in Karlsruhe and I really liked it because our subjects and the structure of the timetable were a bit different than in other schools. Until class 12, we had many manual subjects such as gardening, sewing, working with wood, painting and more and I have made a variety of experiences in the field of handicrafts which were a lot of fun.

Additionally, we had to absolve internships in three different working fields: an agricultural, a professional and a social internship.
For my agricultural internship I chose a biodynamic farm in Switzerland, a litte one with a bunch of cows, goats, geese and other small cattle. I learned to milk, to make hay, to fence pastures and much more and I loved the experience of living on a farm.
I spent my professional internship at a little wood construction company and I helped for example build prefabricated houses and roof trusses on different construction sites, which was fun.
Due to covid, our social internship was cancelled (my plan was to work in a home for disabled persons). That was sad because it would have been an important experience to learn more about the life of people who are part of our society but with whom I usually do not get in personal contact.

Lately, I worked as a picker for a company in order to be able to finance my trip :)

After all, I am not the type of person who likes to sit in front of a computer all day. I rather enjoy doing good work with my hands, something that really helps other people or nature, work where you can see what you have achieved, work where you see results.
