United Kingdom - from Apr 2025 until May 2025 View allDescription
Hello! My name is Amelia. I am a young woman who loves to travel, work with children, and get to know new cultures. My biggest passions are music and the outdoors, and I love to share my interests with others. I have extensive childcare experience and am confident in my abilities to work with children of all ages.
I have a strong desire to travel, and to explore new places and cultures. As a young person, I have had a few opportunities to travel outside my country and have thoroughly enjoyed them, but this experience has been limited. I love children and working with children, and though childcare can be unpredictable, with my prior experience I feel well-equipped to deal with any challenges that may come my way. I think every child is unique and has their own surprising and delightful gifts to offer. Helping them to develop those gifts and to grow as humans is a privilege, and it would be an honor to play such a crucial and involved role in this stage of their life.Interests

English: FluentMore details about my language interests
My first language is English, and I would say I have an above average knowledge of proper English grammar and word structure. I have very rudimentary French; I studied French in middle and high school (ages 11-14), but have not practiced in a long time and was never at all fluent. I would be interested in learning and taking classes in the language of my host family, however, and will begin practicing as soon as my plans are in place.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
I have always loved working with children since I was very young. When I was thirteen, I began volunteering as an English as a second language (ESL) tutor, working with kids whose families were refugees from the Middle East. I did this throughout high school, working with all ages, as young as 4 years old. I have experience babysitting, especially with younger kids. For the past two summers, I have been a camp counselor at a sleep away camp, where I have had a tent of four campers who were my responsibility for the three to six weeks they stayed at camp. I have had campers in my tent ages 10, 11, and 13, and have worked with campers ages 6-16. Since January of 2024, I have been working part-time as a daycare and preschool assistant, working with kids aged 5 months to 5 years old. I have learned how to help kids develop language skills and fine-motor skills, and have helped facilitate potty-training.

What else ...
I would describe myself as an introvert, but I love getting to know new people. My friends would say that I am a bit serious, but also very warm. I love to spend time outdoors, and I love to share my love of nature with others. My favorite thing to do in my free time is to go on long walks in nature. Where I live, there is not a lot of nature, so this is hard. But I also like to ride my bike, and spend time with friends. I like to do crafts. I embroider my clothes and make things to decorate my room. I love music and singing. I trained as a classical singer for many years, and though I don’t study classical music anymore, singing is still one of my greatest joys. I am also trying to learn guitar right now, but have just started so I’m not very good yet. I like to go see my favorite singers in concert, especially if it means I get to travel somewhere new and interesting. I love to read, though I still wish I was more well read. I love to learn new things. I left school last year after realizing that studying music at the university level wasn’t the right path for me, but next year I hope to return to study environmental studies.
