  • Description

Hi everyone :) I'm Amanda! I live in Brooklyn, NY & I currently work in the film industry. However, with the recent strikes there has been a decline in production so I decided that I would like to take advantage of my time off and pursue my passion for meeting new people and exploring new cultures!

I was raised in New Jersey and NYC was my second home growing up! Being around a large city with so much diversity, culture and arts really inspired my passion for exploring new places. In addition, I have lived in Upstate New York, northern and southern California, Madrid, Spain, and Sondrio, Italy. In addition, I have WWOOF'd around the Northeast of the United States!

Although I live in a big city, I am an adventurer at heart. I love agriculture, hiking, backpacking, wild camping, and I have experience working with children. I love animals and I would love to bring my energetic & motivated personality to your home or farm! I am also a huge people's person and would be thrilled to also help out at a hostel.

  • More details about your skills

I consider myself a Jack (or Jill) of All Trades!

Outdoor Education: As an Outdoor Education intern in Madrid, I assisted with lessons and workshops based on biodiversity, agriculture, and vegetation for nursery children, primary, secondary and university students ages 3 to 21, adults, and elders.

Customer Service: I've been a Client Service Coordinator, a waitress, a receptionist and a barista. I really love meeting new people and I enjoy working in the service industry!

Child Care: Not only did I closely collaborate alongside children at my outdoor education internship, but I additionally Au Pairied in Madrid, Spain for a 7 year old and 12 year old and in Sondrio, Italy with a 5 year old. I also was a Camp Counselor in Northern California, primarily working with children ages 10 to 13 years old. I have volunteered at my local elementary school and have babysat fo years.

Writing: At my Outdoor Education internship, I was additionally responsible for revising documents and articles that are translated from Spanish to English. I have also previously done extensive writing for various other internships located in the New York City area and Los Angeles.

Carpentry: My father builds furniture and introduced me to carpentry at a young age. I also have helped build production sets for my local theatre company.

Sewing: I took formal sewing courses for 2.5 years. I love constructing garments, assisting others with repairing their beloved clothing items, and teaching people how to sew.

Agriculture: I was a WWOOF Agriculture volunteer between August 2020 - 2021. I provided strenuous labor to farms such as composting, harvesting, greenhouse organization, greenhouse repairs, plant turnover, and weeding to promote sustainable agriculture around the Northeast of the US. I also collaborated with farmers to cultivate their land for seasonal agriculture and their personal farmers' market.

Animal Care: I was a Recovery Volunteer for Communities Promoting Animal Welfare (CPAW) between May 2020 - 2021. CPAW is a trap, neuter, and release program targeting to reduce the population of feral cats across the country. This project is especially important due to feral cats disrupting local ecosystems (for example, cats often will hunt local birds and will disrupt the food chain in local areas). My primary responsibilities were accommodating trapped cats needs such as feeding and providing shelter until fully recovered from being neutered/spaded and I would recover for four to five days. In addition, I have assisted with taking care of chickens on farms I have WWOOF'd at and I have taken care of family pets while Au Pairing.

Social Media, Audio Engineering, Photography: I have a film degree and have held various positions at post production houses around NYC and LA.

Theatre: I was a theatre minor in college and I love connecting with others over this artistic medium!

Arts and Crafts: I love being crafty :)

Guitar: I play guitar and I am passionate about music! I can happily teach beginner guitar.

Teaching English: I'm a native English speaker and I'd be happy to teach English! I taught English to the kids I was Au Pairing for in Spain.
