Human-enthusiast, passionate polyglot, and anthropologist at heart, I have always loved understanding what makes us human. I do so through travel, meeting people, swapping stories, cooking and sharing food, and learning different points of view through the lens of new languages and cultures. An obstinate dreamer, I believe in having faith in the good in people, and flowing through life gently, with love and a willingness to give and receive.

Growing up in Goa, India (a former Portuguese colony for 500 years) - a coastal region that was meeting of the East and the West, a culmination of the dreams of the voyagers (as I like to see it), a cultural hodge-podge of many Indo-European languages, communities and histories, I grew up with a sense of curiosity, an undeniable love for the sea and slow-life, a strong sense of community living.

A linguist and language teacher by training, I've been teaching French and English to children, teens and adults in various schools as well as freelancing in India and France. I have mainly travelled outside India alongside teaching. Coming from a place that has known the negative impact of consumerist tourism, I am an ardent believer of slow and sustainable travel. I believe we have a responsibility towards the people of the places we travel to and that we can do so by making mindful choices, giving back to local communities, and traveling with an open mind willing to learn from those we encounter.

I am new to Workaway (June 2024) but far from new to the idea that Workaway represents. Apart from choosing to teach and learn languages in the countries I've travelled to and worked in and the experience of volunteering at charitable organisations/NGOs, I recently discovered the joy of volunteering at a hostel in Lisbon in summer 2023, that led me to this platform.

For the coming year, I'm looking forward to discovering the joy of travel through this amazing community of life-minded individuals, meeting other workawayers, learning new languages, cooking and discovering new cultures!

Passionnée de langues et de tout ce qui nous rend humain, j'ai toujours adoré voyager, découvrir de nouvelles cultures, rencontrer les gens, apprendre et partager - des histoires, du savoir-faire et des compétences, des repas !

Venant de Goa en Inde, j'ai grandi dans un monde à l'intersection de l'Occident et de l'Orient, des histoires et cultures différentes, près de la mer qui fait partie de mon âme, et dans un monde où les liens communautaires sont forts, un monde qui m'appris tant à garder un lien aux racines qu'à explorer le monde !

Linguiste et enseignante de langues, j'ai toujours aimé voyager en enseignant. Venant d'une partie du monde hyper touristique, j'ai connu et vécu l'impact négatif du tourisme consumériste et je crois fortement à l'idée de voyager lentement et de manière durable. De mon avis, il est essentiel d'assumer notre responsabilité envers les peuples des terrains qu'on visite, en faisant des choix sages et conscients.

Je suis nouvellement inscrite à Workaway (2024), mais ce n'est pas du tout un nouveau concept pour moi, ayant toujours fait partie de ma manière d'etre et vivre. J'ai hâte de pouvoir découvrir la joie de partager et apprendre en voyageant grace à cette communauté !

A language teacher by profession and avid language learner, I've taught English, French as foreign languages abroad. I'm interested in getting more fluent in Portuguese (I have a B2-C1 level but don't have the ease I'd like). I've also been trying to learn German on my own and would love practicing with someone online or in person!

A linguist and foreign language teacher by training, I speak six (3 European and 3 Indian) languages and I've mainly taught French and English in France and India in various schools as well as run my own language school online. I absolutely adore teaching and love working with children and teens.

Beyond the classroom, I have worked in the fields of communication, social media, content marketing and have dabbled in photography and writing for fun. If there's one thing I'm passionate about more than languages, it's food and cooking. I love to learn about local food when I travel and share recipes. I love doing things with my hands in general, and have tried my hand at pottery, various musical instruments and some gardening (I'd like to learn more!)

A lover of animals, I've had pets as a child and in the absence of my own pets as an adult, I have frequently pet-sitted for friends and family, and I thoroughly enjoy taking care of and playing with dogs and cats.

I'm patient, kind, loving and a super-fast learner. I'm always keen on building deep and authentic bonds with people I meet, and am an open book with those who are willing to also be their authentic selves. I'm gentle by nature, which makes me good with children, elderly people, and animals. I'm really looking forward to meeting you!
