Hi! I love meeting new people, nature (hiking!) and trying new things. I love going on little adventures and hanging out for great bites after. I'm learning spanish as well 😊
My next destination:
New Zealand - from May 2025 until Jul 2025 View allDescription
Hi! I'm Alexe. I'm a 23 years old woman from Singapore. I'm completely fluent in English!
I've recently backpacked around the Balkans and studied abroad in Spain - these experiences were amazing and really opened my eyes to how different life can be. I'm currently in my final year of university studying law and want to spend my time meaningfully before moving into the working phase of my life. I visited New Zealand with my family years ago and have been thinking about it ever since; and now find myself in the perfect position to experience life there not as a tourist, but by contributing back to the community.
I'd love to meet new people and be in nature! I found a new passion in hiking and would love to get more opportunities to do so (we barely have any hilly territory in Singapore). I'm currently learning how to skateboard and hopefully I will be able to surf and ski one day. In my free time, I love painting and home gardening and training Muay Thai. If possible, I'd love to learn about DIY and basic woodwork. I've not had any experience here, but am a very eager learner and highly motivated. Rest assured that I can work independently once shown the ropes - I've worked in retail and F&B (an izakaya!) during really busy periods throughout my university semesters and am a very driven person.
I'm also very caring and love helping out wherever I can. I've volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged students in childcare and helped with pro bono legal work for vulnerable groups such as caretakers of persons with special needs and migrant workers.
Ultimately, I would love to meet new people and get to experience more cultures and perspectives. My biggest life lessons have been from spending time with people around the world meaningfully, so experiences on WorkAway are everything I've hoped to be part of.Interests

Hi! I study law at university and spend my time painting, training Muay Thai, or looking for somewhere to hike. I would really love to learn Spanish, Bahasa Melayu or practise my Mandarin Chinese. I studied abroad in Madrid for 4 months and was too nervous to practise my Spanish, which I really regret! Happy to practise your English/Mandarin Chinese with anyone, and excited to meet people from different backgrounds!Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
I'm a creative person - I love painting and sketching in my free time, and would like to learn more about DIY and basic woodworking. I studied and experienced set design for a few years, which included scaled miniature modelling and various design aspects. I was also my school's official photographer for many school events. Generally, I pick up skills quite quickly and enjoy the process of struggling until I do. This includes random other side jobs like website-creation and social media management.
At the time of the Workaway, I will have (very hopefully) graduated with a Bachelor of Laws. I've picked up loads of people skills in this curriculum and have a pretty strong work ethic because of it. Additionally, I've engaged in pro bono work for vulnerable groups, which included legal research, administrative work and taking preliminary interviews as a point of first instance.
I've also learned to get along with people from all walks of life - I've taught underprivileged children in childcare and am currently tutoring someone for a major exam. Additionally, I'm careful with being organised and clean as I've worked in retail and F&B as a waitress. I'm also the main caretaker of my dog!
I speak English and basic Mandarin. I'm still working on my Spanish and Bahasa Malay!Age

What else ...
Currently reading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations and have so many more books to read. Listening to the Fellowship of the Rings audiobook. I have an amazing recommendation if you would like it.
I also love running (not great at it) and had hoped to do a marathon at the end of this year, but decided to focus on Muay Thai instead.
I would love to play more board games! None of my friends enjoys it.Some more information
