Hi everyone! I am Anna Jiricko and I am a current pre-law student at Scripps college in California. I am from Salt Lake City, Utah originally and love doing anything and everything outdoors related. I grew up climbing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing and more in the Utah mountains and desert. I am graduating from Scripps this coming December, and I am hoping to go on some travel adventures before heading off to law school. I have been studying Mandarin Chinese and learning about Chinese and Taiwanese culture since I was young, and I am hoping to improve my language proficiency through my travels. I have also heard many wonderful things about the Taiwanese wilderness and culture and hope to get the chance to personally experience them!

One of my goals for my workaway experience is to improve my proficiency with Mandarin Chinese, particularly in speaking and listening. I have been studying it for around 10 years, but feel as though I have reached a plateau in my learning. I am hoping to find a workaway that will provide an encouraging environment for me to speak and practice my language everyday in the hopes of becoming fluent. I am also happy to provide English lessons, although I have never formally taught English before, if there is interest!

I was a summer camp counselor for kids of all ages for 6 years, so I have experience with teaching and instructing kids on sports, games, and activities. I also have experience in leading wilderness trips with friends including trip planning, execution, and safety measures. Beyond that experience, I am a quick learner and like to work with my hands, so I am happy to help out with housework projects. I am also open and excited about the prospect of learning and utilizing new skills during my workaway!
