Boatlife, inspiring and warm-hearted people, hard physical work and a rough and/but in terms of uniqueness
and beauty unparalleled environment to work in, thats what you can expect. I stayed for 3 months (Aug.-Nov.) thereof 2 months in Team Nordland and 1 month in Team Finnmark all the way up north.

Rolf who is running a big part of the organisation, is multi-tasking the coordination while constantly working towards his vision for the organisation through connecting with locals, raising awareness locally and on a national level, collaborating, and networking with the bigger picture in mind AND at the same time takes an active role in getting the work done coordinating his own team with which he shares one of the sailboats. A man who measures his dedication in inches of beard ;), huge respect Rolf!
If you want to know anything about boating, plastic, the impact plastic pollution has on (marine) wildlife, where the trash actually comes from and what we and others can do about the problems plastic is causing, you will find an open encyclopaedia in Rolf (and most likely other members of the crew). Everyone I had the pleasure of meeting on board was open-minded, eager to learn, kind and unique in his/her very own way, so everyone brought something special and new to the table, cooking skills, handicraft skills, ideas, plans, possibilities etc. And regarding the bonding in the crew, absolutely. We had some very fun games we played in the group, that made us love and hate each other on a very sweet, light-hearted level ;)). Of course there were problems as well, but as long as you are open to resolve them and willing to make an effort to do so you can always work things out, and so we did. This is a place where you can learn a lot about responsibility, both in terms of tackling the challenges of living on a sailboat and in terms of consumption.

[ Even though we are confronted with the problem of plastic pollution in school, through presentations and group works on modern value chains and recycling, and we heard countless reports on the broadcast or even watched all the documentaries about plastic and plastic pollution available on demand on streaming platforms and media libraries, STANDING AND PICKING TRASH on a beach or an island SEEING the magnitude of the problem FIRST HAND, or hearing it by stepping on something you can't even see because nobody ever cared about it (and time passed covering it in the prossess), RAISES MORE CONCERN in you than all the things listed above combined, it's frustrating to see and rewarding to clean (you really see the progress) and if you want to go even further it encourages and supports you actively in spreading your experience and ideas for possible solutions ]

You learn a lot about team work, coordination and the importance of helping each other. Sometimes you need to be inventive to move a heavy object, to get rid of an obstacle or while trying to make everything fit into the fridge that belongs in there :).

The teams I was part of were very different from each other. The natural setting and the type of trash are very different, which results in different working techniques and logistics.

All in all, this opened the door to volunteering for me, I came there to work as hard as I can, I didn't just get that wish fulfilled but so many more, even the ones I didn't even knew I could ask for. New friends, new motivation, new perspectives, new skills and many many wonderful memories to keep.

Already planning my next visit. I recommend trying it yourself, I'm pretty da*n sure you'll love it ;)
