Description
Hello!
I'm Abbey from Western Australia, a positive and fun-loving person who is keen to explore the world and seek new adventures. I am currently making my way through Europe, and have loved getting to know people and learn about their life and own travel experiences. I am new to WorkAway, but am looking forward to meeting new people through this website, whilst adding new skills and experiences to my repertoire.
Before travelling, I have been based in Perth where I work as a high school teacher, teaching Food Science and Design. When I'm not working, I spend my afternoons and weekends seeking the sun and salt, as well as getting into nature to exercise. In addition to teaching, I have had 5+ years experience working as a Boarding House supervisor. With this role, I loved connecting with families from all over Western Australia and providing a positive and nurturing experience for the students living away from home. This job sparked my love for being a positive role model for children and connecting with people from all around the world!
Along with working in Perth, I have enjoyed spending a few months of the past 5 years in the country, working as a chaser-bin driver (driving a tractor). There is something quite magical about being out of the big city, and this is something I have found comfort and enjoyment in during my travels.Interests

More details about your skills
My experience working as a Boarding House Supervisor and teacher has developed my abilities in caring for students, time management, organisation and communication skills, as well as tutoring.
Through working as a seasonal harvest machine operator for 5 years, I have also developed skills in operating heavy machinery (John Deere Tractors mainly) and applying practical skills and thinking to achieve an array of jobs including transporting grain, building fences, and animal management (sheep work).
I am a keen learner, so whilst I would consider myself to have a diverse set of skills to offer, I'm also confident that I would be able to learn new skills if you are willing to teach me!Age
