(Español abajo) I know I want to be a farmer, but I don’t know the details yet. I left my job hydroponically growing lettuce, and decided to travel the world to experience how people farm in other parts of the world. I hope to learn enough about permaculture, tropical agriculture, and sustainability to one day know that I want to start a coffee farm in the mountains. Or possibly a food forest in the jungle; or maybe an agritourism lodge back home. I’m still looking for answers, and love being able to meet new people, experience new cultures, and see the world along the way.
I’ve been travelling with Workaway and WWOOF since November 2017, so far volunteering in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. While I've been traveling, I've trained horses, made cheese, led the self-sufficiency efforts of a Belizean eco lodge, and worked on community development projects for the local Mayan communities in Guatemala. Before then, I've spent several years working in agriculture. I grew lettuce or tomatoes in hydroponic greenhouses most of the time, but I've also worked on a horse farm, Christmas tree farm, and various nature conservation projects. I’m excited to learn more about agriculture, the jungle, and anything else that comes my way!

  • More details about your skills

I'm experienced in agriculture, having spent the past several years working on different farms or other agricultural projects. I also know how to use many types of hand and power tools, including both hand saws and power saws, drills, measuring devices, paint, and hand tools. I have a fair amount of experience in bother construction and landscaping from different experiences in agriculture and basic home repairs. I speak a fair amount of Spanish, and spent a couple weeks providing all the translation services between Spanish speaking hostel owners and English speaking guests.
