  • Description

We are new to Workaway and excited to see what can come of it. My fiance and I moved to Canada from England about two months ago. We've been enjoying our new way of life and exploring what Alberta has to offer.

Before moving to Canada, I worked as a Physiotherapist Assistant in a hospital. My main goal was to help people achieve their therapeutic goals and improve their independence.

I grew up in the countryside and when I was younger I helped my neighbours with horses, cats and dogs. My dad also had a bee hive which I helped build and run. I'm hoping to spend some more time with animals and enjoy being outside, which is where I feel most relaxed.

I'm a big fan of sports and love being active. My main sports are rowing and all that comes with triathlons. Moving to Canada means I get to try out all sorts of different sports which i'm super excited to jump into.

My Fiancé Josh, has worked for a fire sprinkler company in the UK for over seven years and continues to do so remotely. He video calls to manage a team of designers to ensure everything is taken care of.

In his spare time, he goes to the gym four times a week and enjoys going on hikes. We often do these together. When we aren't going to the gym or hiking, we like to find new experiences whether it be, spontaneuos karaoke or downhill karting.

  • More details about your skills

I studied exercise science at university, which led me to work within Physiotherapy.
My family maintain a nature reserve in the UK, I have grown up in the outdoors and have plenty of experience with conservation. I often help my dad maintain the footpaths and clean up after storms.

Josh has worked with the same company for seven years and with that has developed skills in management, logistics, problem solving and all that comes with the business world. He is much better than I am on a computer- but I dont let him know that.

We are highly motivated individuals who like to be hands-on. We enjoy challenges and are capable of quickly adapting to high-pressure environments. While we recognise that we still have lots to learn, we are hard workers, eager to learn, and can take direction. We welcome the opportunity to take on challenges to develop our skillset.

  • What else ...

I (Willow) volunteered in Kenya with a local community helping school teachers with lesson planning and finding fun new alternatives to help children learn. I also spent time in hospitals helping register patients and take vital measurements. The whole experience was eye-opening and made me feel very fortunate for the life I have been given.
