Description
Hello!
Our names are Shane and Joan!
We are experienced travelers from California looking for new ways to explore and immerse ourselves in the culture. We are trying to build our social media presence to hopefully one day be able to travel full-time.
We are very adventurous, outgoing and active people. We are always looking to be in or near nature. We are planning to travel for a year in Asia and then end up in Australia and New Zealand.
Joan has a natural passion for travel, with many solo travels under her belt to immerse herself in various cultures. She has an outgoing and social personality and she finds meaning in meeting new people around the world, especially when she has opportunities to learn from them.
Shane has his roots in nature as he studied zoology in university. He is excited to learn about the different flora and fauna of the world, and to work in and around it. He also has a pension for creativity, and is hoping to find inspiration from these new experiences.Interests

While Shane is not certified, he is confident in his ability to teach English and communicate in French. Language learning is also very valuable to us as travelers, as we find that it can be the best avenue to find deeper immersion in a culture.Skills and knowledge we'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
As experienced backpackers, we both have strong endurance and are definitely used to “roughing it” which comes in handy when physicality is called for. Joan has strong people skills and a TEFL certification and Shane has worked with children before and in teaching environments, so we feel confident working with other people in various settings. We also have both worked in animal care: Joan with more domesticated animals, while Shane has worked in zoo-like settings. We believe that our experiences, both professional and travel, make us well-suited for a variety of different responsibilities.

Shane is an avid creative, with illustration and animation skills accumulated over years of practice. He is also deeply interested in games and the “art of play” as he worked briefly in the video game industry and is a designer of games himself.
Joan is an accomplished athlete, and has competed at a very high level most of her life in tennis and golf. Although her professional pursuits are behind her, she still performs at an advanced level and has made athletics a vital part of her life and is always ready to learn a new sport. Some more information
