I love the outdoors and working with people. My greatest happiness is when something I have contributed to makes the world a better place, either by protecting the environment, or making someone else's life a little easier. I like to work at grass roots level, out on farms, by the sea, in the wilderness, but my priority is people. I have witnessed in the world a very small effort can sometimes mean a very big benefit to someone vulnerable. I believe very strongly that on this planet we need to be aware of how our actions affect other people, both in good and bad ways, and to make sure we are doing good not bad. My strength is I am resourceful and a problem solver and will make something from what ever is available, whether that's a meal or a building a shelter.

More details about my language interests
I can communicate in basic Spanish. I'm interested in learning some basics of what ever language is spoken around me. I can say Thank You in 17 languages and understand the importance of even a few words in someone else's language. That said, I'm getting older and it's harder to learn new languages. But I could bring learning/teaching materials to teach English from year 1 to Year 10. I'm planning on scanning the books I have and they could be printed on arrival as teaching material.

I have a range of skills and and experience. Grew up on a cattle station, worked 10 years in construction, 10 years as a journalist, 10 years in administration and about 10 years studying. I have basic knowledge in many things without necessarily being an expect in any. I am a good problem solver and will make something from what ever is available, whether that's a meal or a building.
I can cheerfully manage people and day to day operations. Broad range of computer skills. Thinking to have my own back packers one day. I'm looking to volunteer in a backpackers, farm work, or schools. My main strength is, what ever the problem is, I will find a solution. Or what ever needs doing, I will step in and help. I also know my limitations and will tell you if you need expertise beyond my knowledge. I think my background growing up on a remote cattle station in central Australia has given me the resourcefulness to suit volunteering in Africa.
