Description

Hi, my name is Taiyo, and I’m a 22-year-old university student from Japan. I’m currently on a working holiday in Canada and looking forward to exploring new cultures, meeting people, and contributing to local communities. I’m a friendly, responsible, and hardworking person who loves learning and trying new things.

I have diverse experiences that I believe make me a strong candidate for your Workaway program:
• Reception Experience: I worked as a hotel receptionist in Japan for one year. During this time, I gained skills in customer service, communication, and problem-solving. I also handled check-ins, check-outs, and managed inquiries efficiently.
• Hospitality Skills: In Toronto, I’ve been working as a cashier, where I take orders both in person and over the phone. These roles have improved my ability to handle tasks under pressure and communicate effectively with customers.
• Cleaning: In Japan, students clean their schools themselves from elementary to high school. This has taught me how to keep spaces clean and organized. I’m confident in handling tasks like sweeping, mopping, dusting, and general tidying.
• Childcare: During junior high school, I participated in a school program where I worked at a kindergarten. I’ve also worked as a tutor at a cram school for four years, helping children with their studies. I enjoy interacting with kids and creating a positive environment for them.
• Cooking: I’ve worked in restaurants where I prepared and served food. I enjoy cooking and would love to help with meal preparation.
• Gardening (if applicable): Though I don’t have professional experience, I’m eager to learn and happy to help with outdoor work.

I’m doing Workaway because I love the idea of cultural exchange and learning through hands-on experiences. I believe it’s a great way to not only help me improve my skills but also broaden my perspective. I’m particularly interested in community-building and discovering ways to live more harmoniously with the environment and others.

I’m a quick learner, detail-oriented, and always open to feedback. I enjoy working in a team and collaborating with others, but I’m also comfortable working independently when necessary. I approach every task with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, always striving to give my best effort.

In my free time, I enjoy:
• Relaxing in hot springs and saunas, as they allow me to unwind and recharge.
• Having conversations in English, especially when I encounter new perspectives that inspire and challenge me.
• Watching soccer matches—it’s exciting and a great way to connect with others.
• Staying active, whether it’s working out at the gym or exploring new places.

I’d be happy to help with tasks such as:

I have experience working in restaurants, handling tasks such as cashiering, preparing sandwiches, and serving customers.

In Japan, from elementary school to high school, students are required to clean their classrooms and school facilities by themselves. This has given me strong confidence in my cleaning skills and a deep understanding of maintaining cleanliness and organization.

During junior high school, I participated in a workplace experience program organized by my school, where I worked at a kindergarten. This gave me valuable experience in interacting with and taking care of young children. Additionally, I worked as a tutor at a cram school for four years, helping students with their studies. These experiences have made me confident in communicating with and supporting younger individuals, especially those much younger than me.

I am physically active and can assist with tasks that require strength or endurance.
Also I have basic knowledge of science from my university studies and am proficient in using computers.
