Hello!
My name is Tabita, I am 26 years old and I live in Aarhus in Denmark.
I am currently studying one semester abroad at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia, as part of my master degree in biology.
Between high school and university, I worked for two years at different places to save up - mostly in a kindergarden and nursery (age 0-5 years) and as a church singer, but I have also worked as a waitor, at a retirement home looking after the elderly and as a music teacher for a shorter period, teaching children to play the violin.
Whenever I have the time and the money, I love to travel. I have been around many countries in Europe, and outside of Europe I have been to Indonesia, Nepal, India, Vietnam, Japan, Kenya, USA, Australia and New Zealand, both travelling with family, friends and as a solo traveller.
Last year, I did one semester of my biology program in Greenland, which was absolutely amazing, but I know the tropics in Queensland on the other side of the world will be amazing as well!
I finish my exchange semester in Australia in the end of April. After that I really want to take some time to explore more of Australia and I find Tasmania particularly interresting!
I'm a nice, easy-going person, and I enjoy meeting, sharing and learning from people with different backgrounds.
I love long hikes in beautiful nature and I am very interested in nature and wildlife. I'm really interested in marine biology and love exploring the wondrous underwater world through Scuba diving.
One of my great passions apart from biology is music, and I have been singing and playing the violin for almost as long as I can remember. I play both classical music and traditional Nordic folk music, but I'm also interested in music from other parts of the world.
When I need some time for myself to relax, I enjoy knitting, baking, listening to a podcast or reading a good book.
I have only tried work away once before, but it was a great experience, so I would love to do it again. I stayed with a family in Japan for 10 days in the end of 2023, helping at a small festival the mother was organizing, and looking after the kids. It was such a great way to learn about the community and culture, and I really enjoyed being part of the family even though it was only for a short time. I would love to get many more experiences like that through workaway during my future travels:)Interests

More details about your skills
I have been working in a kindergarden and nursery for almost 1½ year, and I like spending time with children, playing games, teaching and being creative - it could be singing and rythmic activies/games, outdoor activities, drawing and painting.
I have also worked in a retirement home for 3 months, looking after elderly people.
I have also had cleaning jobs both through my job as a waitor, the elder care and in the kindergarden, and I'm not scared to get dirty hands, weather it's inside or outside the house.
I grew up with four siblings, so therefore I have been used to helping with cleaning, cooking and gardening from a young age. I grew up in the country side in a big house with a large garden, and every year we would help out with collecting fruit and berries from the garden, weeding, planting and other gardening, and it is something I really enjoy, and I hope to get a house with a big garden as soon as I finish my studies:)
I know a lot about traditional Nordic folkmusic and dance - unfortunately I don't have my violin with me, but if you are interested I can teach some traditional Danish circle dance and folk singing.Age

Tabita is fun to be with and she left all spaces very clean and tidy.
I would recommend Tabita for any challenge she put her mind to, we are very grateful she chose to do an exchange with us. Tabita is always welcome to stay with us.
They are such generous people, and it is impossible not to feel welcome from the very start.
It was really nice working in the garden and the tasks were straightforward, even if you don't have much gardeing experience.
I did not have a car, but Jodie and Andrew were… read more
Sora was very nice and easy to talk with, and the appartment was super nice and conveniently located in Tokyo. The workload was very light and mostly consisted in having pleasent conversations with Sora (which I wouldn't even call work), so that gave a lot of time to explore Tokyo during the day. I… read more
