Description

Hi! My name is Adrien, I'm 26 and I'm from Grenoble, in the french Alps. I'm very open-minded and creative and I love to travel and meet new people! I recently graduated as an energies and environmental engineer and am now starting a career in research in oceanography: I study the ocean and its role in the Earth's climate, with direct observations and advanced computer science techniques. I am looking for some more down-to-earth time with nice people this summer before starting my PhD in the autumn.

I've also studied art as a minor, which I absolutely love, and particularly photography - I worked as a freelance filmmaker and photographer while getting my master's degree. Other things I love include surfing, skateboarding, sailing, rock-climbing, speaking and learning other languages, graphic design, architecture, and hammocking (I even started my own hammock club! But that's a story for when we meet ;)

I have lived and studied abroad in California and in Denmark for a year each and can speak spotless English and decent Danish. Part of my family comes from Italy so I can also speak Italian alright!

This is a fresh workaday profile because I took a long break and my previous profile was deleted, but I actually have done 3 workaways before ! 3 weeks in Greece rebuilding an abandoned village into an art gallery, one week in Amsterdam doing housekeeping/design/photography, and 2 months in Spain working on a renewable energies installation on a sailboat. I have also done other types of volunteering and have a lot of experience living in different conditions and adapting to different people's lifestyles. I also have a good amount of experience with various power tools - I've built wooden skate ramps, farm sheds, made skate and surf boards, chopped down wood to build fences, also worked with metal... Don't get fooled by my job, I know how to use my hands!

For the first half of August this year I'm traveling together with my long-time friend Baptiste and we're hoping to make great connections in Italy and have fun working and discovering a new place and way of living.

Workshop : I'm used to working with metal (mills, lathes, folding, plasma cutting, laser cutting...) and with wood (chainsaw, bandsaw, sanding, drilling,..)

Communication : photography & video filming/editing (professional), graphic design (amateur), social media (great skills)

Sailing : lived on boats for months, good amount of sailing experience in all conditions.

Computer programming/electronics : professional use of Python, R, Matlab, knowledge of Java, VBA, mySQL... Can also program Arduinos with motors and small things like that.

Various engineering and designing skills (technical drawings, basic structural and electrical computations,...).

And last but not least ! FOOD ! I love making it ! I can make reeeeaaaally good mexican food - burrito rolling is for sure my most impressive skill. Also love making Japanese ramen noodles and classic Italian cuisine.
