  • Description

Currently living and working in Turin, Italy. Leaving for a career break starting November 2024.

    Hey there!

My name is Sophie, I’m 29 years old from the Netherlands. I've been living in Italy for the past five years working in tourism. During my years in Italy, I've traveled around the country and learned Italian.

I fell in love with Italy, the nature, the culture, of course, the food, and the people, especially one person :). Mattia: I am 29 as well and am from Torino, where we are both currently living.

We share our passion for the outdoors, the mountains, sleeping in a tent, being active, and enjoying lots of good food.

After working for some years, it is time for us to take a little break and start an adventure together in South America. But before leaving, Sophie will attend a yoga teacher training in Tuscany and Mattia will explore the remote corners of Europe by bike and foot.

After this experience, we will travel to South America to explore the continent visiting places like Patagonia, Bolivia, Colombia, and Peru. The main focus will be experiencing both the culture as well as nature by hiking, biking, camping, and slow travel. And of course a bit of relaxing at the seaside while enjoying some surfing and diving!

We'd love to take some breaks in traveling for some volunteering to experience the local culture, and learn Spanish by teaching yoga, helping with an eco-project, or at a hostel.

We are active, sporty, nature-loving foodies, always seeing the positive side of things and always ready for a chat or joke.

    SOPHIE:
I just finished my yoga teacher training in Tuscany Italy.

For the past years, I worked in the tourism industry with positions as a (tech) coordinator, content editor, and booking and reservation employee. My bachelors is in Leisure Management, where I focused on concept development, organizing, and running events.

I've worked in the hospitality industry (catering, waitress, and reception work) and as well working with various reservation systems in tourism agencies, I love working with people, and used to work in restaurants, in shops, as a nanny, and tutor with customers, guests, and children.

    MATTIA:
I have just quit my job to travel and meet beautiful people and places.
Before that, I was an environmental engineer working as a data analyst. In other words: a nerd coding so that someone could enjoy a nice live dashboard with the most recent update from an industrial site. I know, that’s why it was time for a change. Nevertheless, I really enjoy optimise processes and stuff.

On the other hand, I am a very practical person: I like to get myself to work, whether it is building a shelter, clean and paint a house, sew a patch on my pants or set up a printer (which for sure doesn’t work at a first try). I have built a tandem bike and I am very proud of that.
I have extended experience as a waiter and I volunteered as an educator (with teenagers and disabled people) and coordinator in different environments.
