Description
Hi there! We’re Bram and Sjoerd, two friends from a small Dutch village called Castricum. We grew up close to nature and love spending our time outdoors. Whether it’s hiking, fishing, rafting, or kayaking, if it gets us outside, we’re in! We also share a big passion for engines and motorsport, and we’re not afraid to get our hands dirty rebuilding or repairing a broken motor. We’re currently planning to explore Australia and meet new people along the way. We’d love to experience the country not just as travelers, but by helping out, learning new skills, and being part of local life. Both of us work four days a week as part of the technical maintenance team at one of the largest and oldest campgrounds in the Netherlands, over 48 hectares! That’s quite the size for Dutch standards. Our work involves a mix of practical tasks such as maintenance, groundkeeping, repairs, problem-solving. In short, we’re used to working with tools, fixing things, and finding creative solutions on various problems. We find happiness in discovering new places, learning from others, and working together on meaningful projects. Being outdoors, active, and useful gives us a sense of purpose. Workaway, for us, is a perfect mix of adventure, learning, and giving something back.

More details about your skills
Hi, I'm Bram, I’m currently studying Automotive Engineering in Eindhoven. I’ve always been interested in how things work, and love taking old devices apart and putting them back together to understand how and why these devices work. I also enjoy working on machines and engines, at the moment I have three mopeds that I’ve repaired and maintained myself. practical and hands-on work makes me the happiest. I’m always up for the challenge.
Hey, I’m Sjoerd. I just finished my pre-university education and I’m currently taking a gap year. I really enjoy creating and designing things, I’ve always loved working with my hands, and over the years I’ve gained experience working with both wood, metal and power tools. I recently built a wooden wall in my room that allows light to pass through but still acts as a barrier, so I could create two separate areas while keeping the space bright and open. I also enjoy tinkering with machines, and I get a lot of satisfaction from improving how they work. Recently I had to rebuilt my own moped, replacing the crankshaft bearings and seals so that it could runs like new again. challenges and hands-on work, especially when it involves hard problem-solving and creativity is my specialty.
We are both part of the technical maintenance team at one of the oldest and largest campsites in the Netherlands (camping Bakkum). Our daily work involves caring for the landscape, solving small electrical issues, looking after the animals at the petting zoo, mowing and pruning the grounds, helping the camping guests and keeping the campsite clean and well-maintained. This experience has made us both very versatile, from gardening and landscaping to technical repairs and general upkeep. We are both technically skilled, reliable, and like to take initiative. We’re looking forward to sharing our skills.
