  • Description

Howdy! My name is Shanti (pronounced Shawn-tee).

I work as at art tutor during the school year, and hope to do some work exchange in the Pacific Northwest during the summer. I grew up and currently live in the desert of Southern California, but spent the last three years in Vermont. I've taken a break from school but will return to begin my study of Anthropology at CSUN this fall! I have been accepted into an Archaeology dig in Northern California this August (I'm SUPER excited!!!!). My specific area of interest is American folklore and culture.

I'm currently training to be a beekeeper and to do humane bee removals. I have two hives I help care for. I have my own bee suit, hive tools, and smoker!

I'm queer! If that's not cool with you, I hope you find the right workaway-er for you, but it aint me babe.

    Thanks for reading! :)

  • More details about your skills

I am a jack of all trades. I have experience in childcare (specifically ages 0-6, and high school), I've dabbled in many art mediums, I am familiar with the care of chickens and peacocks, and I'm currently learning to keep bees (I can provide my own suit if this is a skill you'd like to help me learn!). I've also done work in administrative office settings, if that's something you can use. I have lots of experience in community organizing; I was on the board of trustees for a small community center in Vermont, and have been involved in mutual aid networks since 2019. I have been a stage manager for both live theatre productions and film sets. I have organized various events (mostly fundraising events, concerts, and art galleries).

I'm a fast learner, love acquiring new skills, and I'm not afraid of hard work.

  • What else ...

I'm a very curious person, so there is very little I am not interested in learning more about, but these are the highlights:
I'm deeply interested in folklore and history! American culture is fascinating to me.
I also have an interest in nature, botany, and herbalism, and really would like to have a greener thumb. I collect bones that I forage for in the desert, and love exploring/hiking in nature. During my time in Vermont I learned a bit about foraging for food, and I'm interested in learning more in that area.
