I’m Seb (33, British). I just finished a PhD in Psychology, so right now I have a lot of time that I might not have again for a long time and I want to make the most of it!
Travelling has always brought me joy, I love to see new places and cultures and get to know people on the way. Unfortunately, it’s easy to feel cut off from real people when travelling as a tourist. I used to get around a lot by hitchhiking, which gives a great sense of adventure of not knowing how and when you'll get where you're going, or what you'll see along the way. Back when the couchsurfing network was active, I stayed with and hosted some people on that site. I love informal networks that allow people to travel and help each other out without paying for a service. I’m looking forward to using Workaway to meet new people, share conversations and experiences, and to contribute my help to these networks.
When I spend time by myself, I like to spend time in nature, mostly hiking, swimming and camping, but I'm open to a lot of outdoor activities if the opportunities come up! I'm also in the process of writing a book, so I'm hoping to find a little downtime to work on that. For social events, I love things where lots of people can take part; here in the UK I go to storytelling and folk singing events, so I have some songs and stories I can share!
History is a big passion of mine. I'm always interested to hear about the history of an area I go to, so let me know if you have any local knowledge in this way! Lately, I've been learning a lot about the history of social change, radical and revolutionary history. I've tried to be some small part of social change where I live, getting involved in political projects like tenant unions, supporting asylum seekers, opposing the arms trade. I'm not specifically looking to get involved in anything similar here, but I'm open if things are happening!
I'm really into cooking and eating, and trying out new recipes and flavours. I cook vegetarian and/or vegan for myself, but I'm very flexible, especially when eating food from a new culture.Interests

More details about your skills
- I’ve done DIY work before, including painting, plasterboarding and sealing bathtubs, so I can do renovation and similar work. I have no specific trade skills, but I’m happy taking on new tasks and confident that I can learn skills quickly.
- I'm pretty physically handy, so I can do lifting and moving tasks
- I've done a little gardening, e.g., digging, weeding, planting, watering, as well as clearing brambles/nettles and splitting wood, so I can help out here too.
- I love to cook, so I’d be happy to make some meals for people. I've been trying to learn some recipes from a number of different countries lately, so there are a number of options, with the right ingredients! I'm vegetarian, and while I can be flexible on this, these are the meals I know how to make.Age

What else ...
I used to do a lot of climbing, but I haven't been for a while.
I enjoy playing board games, especially deck builders like Dominion and Valley of the Kings. Dixit is also a favourite, but I wouldn't don't know how you categorise it...
I can juggle and I'm a beginner in poi - I take these around with me, but I'm no expert! Some more information
