    Update February 2024:
We have found some seasonal work and won't be on the search again for a Workaway position until at least the fall.

    Hello!
I (Sarah) am a 37 year old animal lover, amateur photographer, artist and gardening lover.
I spent the vast majority of my life working with horses professionally, both as a groom and rider (show jumping and hunter/equitation horses) in North America and Europe.

A bad concussion in 2019 ended my riding career (though I admit I would definitely consider getting back in the saddle on a quiet mount..) and chronic illnesses ended my grooming career in 2020, but I persisted! I continued to work in the office at the farm for 2 more years to maintain my closeness with the horses, but come 2023, I accepted that I must lessen my work and stress loads for a better quality of life.

My focus now is a low stress life with my husband Paul and 2 senior dogs (Bull Terriers Theo and Shay - always leashed! They go on outings with us and mostly sleep) where I can make meaningful connections with both nature and people.

    Hello!
I (Paul) am a spry 46 year old originally from Sydney, Australia, but have been in Canada now for over 15 years. I am a Farrier by trade, but having run my own high stress horse shoeing business for well over a decade, I am ready for a change of pace.
I am also a lifelong boxer, with decades of coaching under my belt. I have taught everything from primary school age beginners all the way up to professionals successfully competing at the national and international levels.
Back in Sydney I spent 10 years as a greens keeper and also have plenty of experience with landscaping projects, outdoor clean up, trail maintenance, farm maintenance, etc.

I have a great passion for dogs, all things nature (mycology and moss have a special place in my heart) and making deep connections with the people I meet.

I love physical work, learning new things, good conversation, anything involving swimming or the water, and would also like to slow my life down with my family and be able to appreciate the nature and people around me.

We both love to travel and needed a big change (especially with Sarah's health and the cost of living these days) so we have renovated an old 22' camper that is now our traveling home on wheels + our truck, Burt.

We look forward to meeting you!!
