Description
I'm over 30 and ready for an adventure!
I've done some travel in the past including New Zealand, Australia, London, America, and Japan - this time I'm heading back to Japan for a year on a working holiday visa, and hoping to use Workaway to meet locals, make friends, learn new skills, and hopefully work on my Japanese along the way!

I have a degree in English and have been working freelance as a writer, editor, and proofreader for about ten years. I also have a TEFL certificate in the hopes of travelling to teach English! I love to read and write.
I've worked with children for most of my life, mentoring younger kids in various sports and activities when I was still in school, working in after-school and school holiday programmes during university, and coaching sports for various age groups including gymnastics, swimming, martial arts, and rock climbing.
I love to learn new things and I'm a quick learner, so I'm always happy to pick up something interesting!

Before leaving NZ I worked in a Leisure Centre teaching rock climbing, archery, raft-building, orienteering, and high ropes courses - I'm not an amazing climber myself, but I have a blast trying, and I'm a great belayer.
I spent years training and competing in ITF Taekwon-Do before retiring after we were closed for COVID lockdowns, due to work and other interests getting in the way.
Over the course of my life I have taught gymnastics and swimming to kids, ITF Taekwon-Do to all age groups, mentored a high school robotics club, and tutored people in English.
