Hello I'm Ruth :) I'm 28 from Manchester, UK, on a working holiday visa until July 25.

At home I work in environment policy for the public sector, and in NZ I have worked in hospitality and a desk job, but now I'm just travelling around. I've done workaways previously which have involved teaching children, tidying, gardening and tree planting - all of which I've enjoyed! I'm really interested in workaway opportunities that give me a chance to meet local people and spend time outside, particularly if there is a chance to learn about the local ecology and wildlife. Unfortunately I can't claim to have too many practical skills (woodworking etc) but I'm very keen to learn! I'm also fairly fit and happy to do physical work, as well as a fairly competent and enthusiastic cook.

I spend most of my time tramping, camping, and doing trail runs, so really looking to be based where there is plenty of opportunity for this kind of thing.

I'm mostly vegetarian (fish ok) but willing to be flexible on this for a great host. I've also got my own vehicle.

English first language, variety experience working in customer service and hospitality, decent cook. Some experience decorating and gardening, lots of experience with kids including teaching primary age children. Worked with horses as a teenager although not much since. Competent at DIY but not too many practical skills beyond this. Physically pretty fit and happy doing manual stuff.

What else ...

I'm very outdoorsy, and interested in any opportunities which let me spend time outside, particularly where there is an opportunity to learn about the nature and wildlife around me. I spend a lot of my free time running, particularly trail and mountain running, and am always looking for new routes and places to explore. I also love cooking and am happy to pitch in with making meals wherever I am.
