  • Description

Naturally, I love travelling and meeting new people; being exposed to new ideas and ways of doing things helps us to grow and connect. I enjoy practicing yoga and have had a daily practice for many years now (and am now a qualified facilitator). I have just begun to experiment with flow arts - I fall over quite a lot but it's still brining me joy nonetheless! Being connected to the body I am in currently keeps me present and flow arts are a great way to do that (as well as play about with cool tricks!). Being around animals is always an awesome experience for me- I currently live with a cat and love to meet other four legged friends on my travels. As an animal lover and yogi, I don't eat meat or fish if avoidable, but above all I am grateful for what is offered and believe nothing should go to waste.

I currently work for an arts charity and love to find out about different art forms. I'm fascinated by counter culture, anarchism (principles of self governance) and have a soft spot for music and arts based alternative communities. I'm dismayed by the state of the world at the moment and the way we treat not only each other but the natural environment. For that reason, I'm also very interested in permaculture and sustainability. I grow my own fruit/ veg but have lots to learn! I like to get my hands dirty, whether that's in the garden, cooking or making.

A while ago, I was a primary school teacher in England and worked in nurseries as well as primary schools. This means I'm quite comfortable around young children- I believe they have so much to teach us! I'm inspired by the ideas and philosophies of Rudolph Steiner and believe very much in the phrase 'human beings, not human doings'.

  • More details about your skills

I hold a current Yoga Instructor Diploma (CIMPSA) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (University of Cambridge, England) and have Qualified Teacher Status in the UK. I was a primary school teacher for several years, so feel confident with adapting teaching to suit different needs. My pedagogical style views the role of the 'teacher' more like a facilitator- I believe firmly that meaningful learning takes place in a collaborative space, away from the restraints of concepts like 'teacher' or 'pupils', rather, that we are all participants in this game of life.

I currently coordinate events for an arts charity. Events often run in the form of workshops in all types of art form (music, theatre, visual arts and anything in between). I recently took part in a carnival arts project and have since gotten more into body painting. As with flow arts, this is a more recent endeavour but I am happy to share these skills and continue to grow and learn with others. I also enjoy weaving crafts (crochet, for example) and textile work (sewing, dying, batik).

Although my garden is small, I put a lot of love into it and am no stranger to the work that goes into tending to a garden. The satisfaction that comes from being one with the land and the self sufficiency this provides have been incredibly rewarding to me, so I am happy to lend a hand in the garden if that's useful to you.

  • What else ...

I'm really just looking to meet other likeminded people who want to explore alternative ways of living and being, with kindness and compassion at its core. I think I've mentioned most things in my profile, but it's sometimes a bit tricky to talk about yourself too much, so if you'd like to know anything else please just ask!
