  • Description

Hi! We are Caitlin and Rosie, friends from the North of England. Our biggest passions are travel, animals, seeking out new experiences, and meeting new people.

We're both in the education sector - Caitlin (35) is a secondary school teacher, and Rosie (37) works for an education charity.

Our biggest drivers are friends, family, animals, and travel. We are both 'doer's. We throw ourselves into any adventure, big or small, and can turn our hands to pretty much anything!

We both have a lot of experience volunteering and hosting volunteers.

Rosie has over eight years experience volunteering at various charities and rescue shelters in the UK. In 2020 she decided to take the leap and leave the corporate world to explore a career which matches her core values-helping those in need. She completed a 3 month internship at Lets Be SMART an animal welfare NGO in Greece, after initially volunteering for them through Workaway. She continues to volunteer alongside her full-time job for Childline - a UK charity which offers listening support to young people struggling with all kinds of issues.

Caitlin also did a volunteering stint at the Lets Be SMART NGO. She supported with the 'trap neuter release' project and managed outreach with the local community. Back in the UK she volunteers for a local homeless charity each week, specifically in their soup kitchen.

Caitlin has two lovely cats, Hetty and Bella, and hosts volunteer pet sitters whilst travelling through a similar platform to Workaway - Trusted House Sitters. She manages this by writing the volunteer information pack, greeting and briefing the volunteers and other logistics. You can see the reviews from this in the photos.

We are about to embark on an incredible trip around Central and South America, and can't wait for the rich new experiences and meeting Workaway hosts along the way!

Rosie's background is in project management, she's super organised, hard working, and used to thinking on her feet. Her degree is in events management and she spent lots of her earlier career working in the festival industry, rushing around and generally mucking in with everything - it's the only way to get things done in that industry, good old fashioned team work! During her travels over the years she has worked in an Irish bar in the Netherlands, an English Language school in Ho Chi Minh, as meet and greeter for a touring rural theatre company in the UK, and an intern for an animal welfare NGO. The NGO position involved a lot of manual work such as cleaning, garden maintenance, and basic redecorating.

Caitlin's background is in teaching. She began as a teaching assistant, supporting children with special educational needs. Following this she spent 2 years in Thailand teaching English as a Foreign Language to both children and adults. This has continued in the UK as a teacher of Sociology and Social Sciences. In between a teaching career Caitlin has worked in the hospitality industry, both in a restaurant as waiting staff and managing a bar.
