  • Description

Hi! I'm Rory, a nature lover from South Korea. I previously worked as an English teacher for wonderful elementary school students. Feeling a strong desire to explore the world and connect with new people, I decided to challenge myself and applied for a working holiday visa to New Zealand.

I would love to immerse myself in the culture of local families, helping out with whatever I can do.

I've got experience in teaching and hospitality or food and beverage services, so I'll give a quick overview.

    Restaurant/Café:
    • Prepared and served beverages, including specialty drinks, with expertise in coffee brewing and latte art.
    • Took orders and processed payments using the POS system.
    • Assisted with food preparation.
    • Maintained cleanliness of the dining and service areas.
    • Trained new staff members on service protocols, and drink preparation.

    Educational Camp:
    • Organized and coordinated daily schedules, activities, and events for students.
    • Assisted with curriculum planning and material preparation to support instructors.
    • Created engaging content for social media, newsletters, and promotional materials to enhance camp visibility and reach.
    • Trained new staff members on program protocols, safety procedures, and educational guidelines.

    English School:
    • Planned and conducted engaging English lessons for elementary school students.
    • Taught around 60 students weekly, tailoring lessons to different learning levels and needs.
    • Created interactive activities to encourage participation.
    • Assessed student progress through regular tests, quizzes, and homework assignments.
    • Communicated with parents through monthly phone calls to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.

  • More details about your skills

I’m driven by a passion for sustainable and diverse education, which I believe involves fostering a mindset of living in harmony with both nature and people. I studied psychology and, out of curiosity and passion, took a course on Global Citizenship.

In today’s fast-paced society, where development often goes to extremes, I think it’s vital to find a balance between progress and nature. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned as a global citizen is the intention to coexist with our environment. With this in mind, I conducted Earth citizenship classes in public schools for about two years as a freelancer.

I’ve gained diverse experience in both English education and the café industry. In my previous role at an English school, I taught around 60 students weekly, created lesson plans, conducted classes, and provided parents with monthly updates. I also tracked student progress through regular tests and exams.

While studying at university, I worked in cafés and participated in local youth community committees. I took on a leadership role in the Youth Mind School Program, which helps adults maintain a healthy mind and body lifestyle.

In my free time, I enjoy yoga, meditation, journaling, filming, and reading, which keep me grounded and positive. I’ve also dabbled in YouTube and have experience editing videos.
