Description

Hello! My name is Raffaele, I’m 19 years old and I live in the Italian Alps. I just graduated high school this summer and decided to take a year off to embark on a BIG adventure instead of going to university straightaway. That’s why I’m going on a backpacking-trip across the globe! I want to use this time to immerse myself in different cultures, meet new people and experience nature. I’m all about exploring interesting places, trying new things and making lifelong memories while learning more about myself along the way! I believe that workaway is a fantastic way of achieving this. I am very adaptable and can work both independently and as a team, so I’m open to any opportunity that comes my way. I’m a very curious, spontaneous and adventurous person who loves any kind of sports and outdoor activities like climbing, hiking and surfing.

When it comes to my work experience and abilities, I have tried a lot of different things:
I have worked as a waiter and barista in a local Bar, which gives me some experience in customer service, teamwork and working efficiently under pressure. Additionally, I spent a Summer as a Windsurf-Instructor in a Sailing school, which taught me how to lead lessons, handle clients and work with kids.
While traveling, I volunteered in a hostel, where I organised activities for the guests and helped wherever needed. I learned a lot and was a tour guide in the mountains and jungle! Check out the feedback I got! On the same trip, I lived on a sailboat for a month and helped with repairs and various projects. This taught me a lot of useful skills needed to live and sail a boat!
I have over 10 years of outdoor skills and have organised charity events with the Scouts. I’m a creative person that is good at improvising and I don’t mind more physically intensive or dirty tasks. I enjoy trying many different types of work.
I would consider myself to be a very hard-working, adaptable and responsible person, who will give any given task it´s all. I’m a quick learner that always offers a helping hand when it´s needed. I grew up bilingual and speak fluent Italian, German and English. Now I even speak some spanish! I graduated at a scientific high school, which gives me a good foundation of knowledge in many different fields.

When I’m not in nature or doing sports, I like to relax by reading, playing board games or just hanging out with friends. I’m also trying to learn how to be an amateur photographer, since I have a passion for capturing natures beauty and interesting stories.
