Description
Hello, my name is Rachel!
(November 2023-Feb 2024 I will be in Italy. Interested in child sitting, house sitting, gardening and harvest work, creative projects, art, writing, meditation, and a calm environment in the countryside.)
Pleasure to meet you!
I am passionate about living close to nature, cooking with fresh food, cultivating beauty and care-taking in community. I believe in the profound power of sharing a meal with new or old friends and how the intimate bonds created in the home or at the table last a lifetime. My inspiration to travel comes from the desire to learn, connect through land, nature, food, music, dance and story— to laugh, cry, heal, and experience the spontaneous creation of beauty that is born from culturally diverse experience.
My background weaves together different modalities of somatic-based healing and nature connection: (Laying of hands (Reiki), yoga, movement-based therapeutic practice, qi-gong and meditation.) I have also spent multiple years learning about sustainable and regenerative agriculture, small-scale gardening, wilderness survival, ecological conservation, herbal medicine, domestic animal care, and culinary technique. I am politically engaged and strongly opposed to injustice on any scale. All of this gives me a grounded and holistic approach to life with a wide-range of experience that I apply while traveling and entering new circumstances.
People often tell me I am down-to-earth, that my laughter is genuine, and... that I can cook a good soup! I am joyful, inquisitive, curious, philosophical, tender-hearted and attuned to the energies around me. I am motivated while working with others but also enjoy solitude. I enjoy quiet time on free days to pray, meditate, read, write, explore nature, cook and share meals, and reflect. I am always open to learning new ways of being, languages, and how to live in good relationship with the earth and human community.
One thing applicable to Workaway is that I have PLENTY of experience house-sitting. I have watched and cared for many different animals of friends in different places including: horses, goats, sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, snake, birds, ducks, rabbits, and more. I am grateful for the time I’ve spent caring for animals and always, always welcome the invitation to gain more experience doing so. My ability to be detail-oriented and to follow instructions when taking care of pets is tremendous... I love animals just as much as you do! If you are looking for someone who will love your animals and keep your house clean while you're away please let me know!

The first thing that I can say about Rachel is that she works a lot and is An excellent cook!
After work she always didn't forget to feed us and that is awesome.
She red my cards tarocchi in a beautiful way, warm and cozy.
Thank you so much for came in my house!
She is independent and strong and sensitive and calm. She brought a lot of laughter to our home. From the moment she arrived.
