Description

My name is Aleksandar. I am a geography major with an additional teaching degree. I enjoy traveling most of all and see its value in many ways and on many levels as it can only enrich our lives. Besides that, I enjoy any kind of work that does not destroy me and enjoy being of service and contributing in any way I can. In that light I see Workaway as a perfrect platform for me to realise these two aspects of my life together.

I traveled a lot in my life and visited 4 continents and I do not intend to stop. I have visited 4 continents and have been to countries like Morroco, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, Ukraine, Serbia, Russia, Belarus, Mongolia, Germany, Peru and others. I traveled with many different means, the most exciting one being with an old 1989 Yugo Coral 55 from Croatia to Mongolia and back with two of my friends in 2016. That was a hell of a trip. My latest adventure was to Peru where I pursued one of my passions, shamanism and alternative healing modalities and learned some basic shamanic skills that I am able to apply and do healings in terms of healings sessions. In the last 7 years my life has revolved around spirituality and "alternative" healing modalites. I put quotes on alternative simply because these healing modalities, at least most of them, have been with humanity from its dawn and can not be considered alternative at all when you think about it more deeply.

At the moment I am single but intend to have a family one day and to raise my kids in nature as much as it is possible in the circumstances at that time. I intend to learn skills like gardening, sustainable building, herbology, beekeeping, farming and other skills that will allow me to be independent and yet interdependent, sustainable, eco-friendly and off the grid as much as I can. I value a peacefull life, a helping hand, good will, compassion, good food, kindness and try to contribute the best way I can wherever I am at and with whoever I am surrounded with.

I love teahcing and learning, be it something of intelectual, spiritual or practical value and am always open to listen to suggestions of any kind. Of course, I might rule them out if I find them not suitable for the occasion, but I will always listen to ideas and suggestions. I am easy going but like to get things done in a proper way and value quality over quantity in most, if not all cases.

I love traveling and enjoy meeting new people, but as I age I also started to value peace, quiet, aloneness and solitude and do not mind being longer periods of time alone even though I need people. I consider my self an introvert in most occasions and surrouned by most people even though I can easily shift to an extrovert mood surrounded with the right people and while working work that requires that and enjoy jobs like guiding, teaching, informing, waitering in a reasonable pace, etc.

Using the Workaway platform I intend to travel, work, volunteer, possibly earn some money, meet new people, share knowledge and experiences and learn as much as I can about things that interest me, have nice meals and an all in all nice time with my hosts, whoever they might be. Hopefully, it is you :D

As mentioned I am a geography major and a teacher of geography. Besiedes that, I am versitile and can do almost everything out there. I have worked as a waste clerk, informant, tour guide, teacher, delivery guy, dishwasher, waiter, bartender, theater wardrobe menager etc. so my working experience is also wide. I am a fast learner and can learn new skills in new environments really fast and adapt in short notice. Lately, my focus has been more and more on nature and living in nature, with nature and from nature and am looking to expand my knowledge and experience in that department as starting to live permanently in nature is one of my primary goals in upcoming years. I hope to learn skills and ways to do that and am willing to work everything I can and learn eerything I can. Also, in the last 7 years I have been interested in spirituality which led me to yoga and shamanism and I consider my self a sort of a yogi and a shamanic practicioner. Starting from July, I am enrolling in a massage course that combines traditional chinese massage techniques and reflexology so I can contribute on that department also. If you need more information, please feel free to ask me whatever you want.

Almost every work that I have done in my life involved working with people in some kind of way so I am accustomed to dealing with all kinds of people in all kinds of circumstances and I dare to say I am good at that. I am a natural people pleaser and enjoy being of service. My travels also contributed to my people skills and problem solving skills. I have basic computer skills and have some cooking skills. I enjoy cooking and never follow a recipe to the end and I dare to say that I am a good cook and have the ability to make something out of nothing. While on my latest trip, the one to Peru, I learned basics of the Q'ero (andean indigenous people) healing tradition and started to do healing sessions recently. I intend to widen my practice with the massage course I mentioned and with other healing modalitites I intend to learn in the upcoming years. I have some basic knowledge of herbology and aromatherapy. I intend to finish a yoga teacher course since yoga is one of my passions. As you can see, my current skillset is versitile, varied but formed around nature, people, communication, teaching and sharing knowledge and holistic aproach to heath and healing all of them being the course I intend to form my life around.

What else ...

Besides the mentioned interests, I love music and play several instruments, mostly percussions. I appreciate art as such and value its nature and role in the human experience. I write poetry, both in English and in Croatian. I am interested in crystaltherapy, aromatherapy, sound therapy, herbology and other alternative, holistic aproaches to health and healing, gardening, sustainable off-grid living, hiking, camping and other activities related to nature. I love animals, all of them and easily relate to them in a loving manner and enjoy spending time with them. I am easy going, easy to live with and easy to cooperate with and do not have any special demands except the one that any work I do does not destroy me. Everything else is negotionable and I am willing to adapt to reasonable demands.
