I’m kinda resuming my travels after a 30 year break to work and bring up my wonderful family. Back in my 30’s I crossed the Sahara desert and the Congo rainforest and hitchhiked around East Africa.

Description

Though I'm English, I've lived for the last 25 years in the west of Ireland. I’ve just started early retirement and looking to spend this new-found time differently. I’ve half a lifetime experience of looking after my family, house, pets and garden (in that order of importance!) and want to share that experience with people who are happy to invite me into their homes. I also want to expand my horizons again, meeting new people, new cultures, alternative ways of living.

Bien que je sois anglais, je vis depuis 25 ans dans l'ouest de l'Irlande. Je viens de commencer une retraite anticipée et je cherche à passer ce nouveau temps différemment. J'ai vécu la moitié d'une vie d'expérience en m'occupant de ma famille, de ma maison, de mes animaux de compagnie et de mon jardin (dans cet ordre d'importance !) et je souhaite partager cette expérience avec des personnes qui sont heureuses de m'inviter chez elles. Je veux aussi élargir à nouveau mes horizons, rencontrer de nouvelles personnes, de nouvelles cultures, des modes de vie alternatifs.

I can do most things around the house (cleaning, cooking, DIY, painting, carpentry, renovation) and garden or small farm (planting, weeding, maintenance, power tools, landscaping; as long as it’s not backbreaking 😊). I'm good with pets, and other small animals (I was raised on a farm with poultry and pigs). I'm fairly well (over?)-educated (“Three Degrees”🤣) but above all I am always down to earth and practical.

Je peux faire la plupart des choses autour de la maison (ménage, cuisine, bricolage, peinture, menuiserie, rénovation) et du jardin ou de la petite ferme (plantation, désherbage, entretien, outils électriques, aménagement paysager ; à condition que ce ne soit pas éreintant 😊). Je suis doué avec les animaux de compagnie et autres petits animaux (j'ai grandi dans une ferme avec des volailles et des porcs). Je suis assez (plus ?) instruit (« Trois Degrés » 🤣) mais surtout je suis toujours terre-à-terre et pratique.

What else ...

I still enjoy hillwalking though my age has diminished what I can do. I love historical houses (brought up in a 400 year old farmhouse, live in a 1970’s semi!), rural landscapes and local culture.

J'aime toujours faire de la randonnée même si mon âge a diminué ce que je peux faire. J'aime les maisons historiques (j'ai grandi dans une ferme vieille de 400 ans, mais j'habite dans une maison jumelee moderne!), les paysages ruraux et la culture locale.
