  • Description

Hi there! My name is Ornagh (pronounced OR-NA)! I am 27 years old, from Ireland. I am a seasoned traveller, having lived in many parts of Europe throughout my teens and 20's. I am now spending the latter half of my 20's living upside down in the Southern Hemisphere!

Upon my arrival in New Zealand back in November, I spent a month travelling the country from the comfort of my compact yet cosy JUCY camper van, starting in Auckland and working my way down to Queenstown. Since setting foot on Kiwi soil, I have truly fallen in love with New Zealand and am eager to prolong my stay here for as long as possible.

A bit about me - I love hiking, camping, running and swimming - anything "outdoorsy" really. It's no surprise I've become so obsessed with New Zealand - with all its cows, greenery and lovely locals, it really feels like a home (very far) away from home!

Back in Ireland, I am training to be a psychologist and as my main interest is child psychology, I have spent many years working with young children and teenagers with special needs, and have babysat for many years. This year, I'm taking a break from the books to explore what this beautiful corner of the world has to offer.

I am an open-minded and curious person, eager to learn more about New Zealand's people, culture and history. Please reach out to me if you have any opportunities that might suit me!

  • More details about your skills

Often described as a "people's person", I am very sociable and love meeting new people. Like any good Irish woman, I love a good chat, and jump at any opportunity to make new friends. I am open-minded and curious, always very interested in learning about new cultures and other ways of life.

I am great with children, having spent most of my weekends as a teen babysitting in my hometown, and have spent a lot of time working alongside my mum at her school in Dublin (I come from a very long line of teachers)!

I am an avid reader and writer, with my own personal blog which I turn to during my spare time to document all of my adventures.

  • What else ...

When I don't have my head in a book, you can find me in the kitchen cooking up a storm. I come from a family where food is one of our core family values, and we spend a lot of time around the dinner table together, enjoying delicious meals and sharing stories.

My best subject at school was Home Economics - I really thrive in the "homemaker" role, from cooking to baking to having random (and pointless) knowledge about the internal mechanisms of a microwave. I even find cleaning somewhat therapeutic!

Last but most certainly not least, I am a passionate "Gaeilgeoir" (the Irish term for an "Irish-speaking person") and am very proud of where I come from. I'd love to spread knowledge about my own culture and language, and also learn about yours!
