  • Description

Hi, hej, 안녕하세요, こんにちは, สวัสดีค่ะ and 你好!
I'm Olivia, a 20-year-old (born in September 2004) passionate about exploring cultures and connecting with people. I grew up in Stockholm, Sweden, in a mixed Swedish and British family, and I have always loved meeting people from different walks of life. I consider myself to be a social, friendly, and positive person who enjoys learning from others' perspectives. I believe that being open-minded helps you see the world in new ways and understand the diversity that makes life so interesting.

In my free time, I love spending time with family, friends and my dog, as well as listening to music, singing, and capturing memories through photography. I have also had a deep love for East Asian popular culture since I was about 12, especially manga, anime, and TV-dramas from South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, and Thailand. My interest in this area led me to study Japanese at Stockholm University's Department for Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (September 2024–January 2025). I really enjoy learning languages and understanding different cultures more deeply.

In high school, I studied social sciences with a specialisation in behavioural science. After my travels I wish to train as a psychologist, something I have dreamt of since I was 11. I hope to one day work in South Korea as a psychologist. I am detail-oriented and always strive to do my best in everything I take on.

I have experience babysitting, interning as a student and teaching assistant for two weeks, working at an afterschool recreational centre for 9- to 14-year-olds for three weeks during my summer holidays, and working as a tutor.

As my mother is English, I have spent a lot of time travelling around Britain visiting family and discovering the beautiful British nature. In the summer of 2023, I spent five weeks in South Korea. It was truly a trip to remember. I will never forget the bustling cities, the tranquil mountains, the fancy cafes, the street food, and the warm and kind people. Since I got home from Korea, I have been determined to find an opportunity to travel around East Asia, which has brought me to Workaway. I am excited about the future and can't wait to start learning, contributing, and building meaningful connections with people through this journey. I am very much looking forward to helping hosts out while soaking in the experience of living in new places and understanding different ways of life!

Thank you for taking the time to read my description!

(I am currently traveling Japan on a working holiday visa)

  • More details about your skills

I am good with children and find trying to create an environment where they can have fun at the same time as they learn and develop very enjoyable. I have worked as a student and teaching assistant for a class of 12-year-olds for two weeks, worked at an after-school recreational centre for 9- to 14-year-olds for three weeks, and done babysitting. I currently work as a tutor, and I genuinely enjoy helping people learn. Furthermore, I have experience helping classmates and friends with English, social sciences, and psychology assignments. These experiences have helped me develop a stronger understanding of the hard work that goes into teaching and supporting people as they grow. They have also helped me see that every person has unique needs, that communication is a key factor in learning, and that an environment that makes learning fun and dynamic is important.
I have some experience cooking simple family meals at home and know the basics of cooking.
I have also helped my mother a little with weeding, watering, and planting in our garden.
I take photos and sing as a hobby.
I am a detail-oriented person and am very good at planning and structuring things around me. This includes creating schedules and itineraries, organising spaces, and providing clear information.
I am also good at making people feel welcome and appreciated as they are.

  • What else ...

I am a Christian and have grown up as part of a church community. I genuinely enjoy meeting people of different religious/faith backgrounds and learning about their beliefs and traditions.
My mother has worked with human rights, working for religious freedom for all people no matter their faith background since I was little which has made me very interested in human rights too.
I also have a dog (his name is Tage and he's in one of my photos) which means that I have experience taking care of an animal.
