Our next destination:
Nicaragua - from Jun 2025 until Jul 2025 View allDescription
Embarking on adventures and immersing ourselves in diverse cultures has been a passion of ours for the past four years! While our work commitments have limited our travels to shorter bursts of about three weeks, we've been fortunate enough to explore various countries. However, the experiences that truly captured our hearts were the longer stints we spent volunteering separately before we crossed paths.
For me, it was the joy of teaching in a vibrant primary school nestled in Palampur, India, while Coleman found his calling amidst the gentle waves and sandy shores of a turtle sanctuary in Costa Rica.
Since graduating two years ago, we've delved into the professional world with full enthusiasm, often reminiscing about the profound impact our volunteering experiences had on us. Those moments ignited a spark within us, driving us to seek out meaningful endeavors that make a difference.
Now, as we look ahead to 2025, we're bubbling with excitement as we plan our much-anticipated 'gap' year! Our hearts are set on fully immersing ourselves in communities around the globe through volunteering. The prospect of dedicating ourselves wholeheartedly to causes we believe in fills us with joy and anticipation. We can't wait to embark on this journey together, spreading smiles, and creating positive change wherever we go!Interests

More details about your skills
I (Meron) also have great interpersonal skills in marketing, event management and relationship building. At my full-time job, I am in charge of communicating with over 31,000 clients through creating monthly eNewsletters, annual magazines, and organising over 50 events per year. With my current role, I have also developed my skills in photography and videography by taking photos of all our events and interviewing clients, as well as filming and editing these interviews to be posted on our social media channels. I also have experience in waitressing and being an administrative assistant to a small company (Care Premier).
I've (Coleman) developed my animation, videography and photogrophy skills over the last 3 years working as a freelance Motion Graphics designer and in my most recent role as a Digital Content Editor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Over those years I've produced many video driven projects spanning from shorter form social media content to longer form docu-series type videos on YouTube. I utilize animation (my favourite form of creative content) in my projects to help highlight important points that need to stand out to the audience. I'm confident in carrying out engaging and fruitful interviews around any subject area.
We both have experience in various areas, either through our work or volunteering activities. A few to note from me (Meron) was teaching English and Art from nursery to year 11 when I volunteered in Palampur, India and my former primary school in London.
Coleman and I also have extensive experience with animals, as we manage our own dogsitting business in West London, where we have taken care of six dogs and two turtles in the past year. I believe I would be a great fit wherever we're placed, as I am super adaptable and keen to learn more about projects with a meaningful impact.
I (Coleman) have some experience in wildlife conservation. During a week-long volunteering stay on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica I assisted local guides in poacher watching during the nesting season of Hawksbill and Leatherhead turtles.
I also have 9 months of experience waitering and pot washing in restaurant settings.Age

What else ...
We both love swimming, water sports, music, dancing, card games, reading, socializing and meeting new people. I'm (Coleman) particularly interested in photography and capturing moments you can't experience twice but can have forever. And I (Meron) enjoy writing short stories, poetry and blogs, as well as painting and cooking.

We have been so very pleased to host Meron and Coleman for two Autumn weeks. They brought us friendship and a willingness to help us both in and around the house (various chores) and out and about on the property, including the use of a clever petrol-powered edger machine over 500m of driveway.
