  • Description

Hello, we are a couple taking a sabbatical to travel. We have been living and studying in London for the past 10 years and are taking some time out to consider our next steps, learn some new skills, and reconnect with our sense of adventure.

Meg is an architect, artist, and lecturer specialising in public engagement, sustainable building and retrofit.
Ollie is a furniture designer and builder specialising in circular design and modern fabrication techniques.

Over the past few months travelling and volunteering through WWOOF and Workaway we have deepened our interest in permaculture and natural building techniques - both themes we'd love to explore more deeply. So far, we have built a solar shower out of disused fencing, a kitchen from ancestral timber, fed and cared for a whole menagerie of animals and worked at weeding, planting and harvesting in various gardens. Moving forward, we are particularly interested in learning more about earth building, working with bamboo, traditional carpentry and seed saving techniques.

We have heard of so many fantastic experiences from friends and the wider Workaway community.
We are excited to share our experiences and skills, gain new ones, make new friends, and learn how to better contribute to the conversation around sustainable building and land management.

We both love the outdoors and grew up rurally, and are excited to reconnect with the landscape.

Meg is a qualified architect, artist and lecturer with 10 years of experience working in practice. Her work specialises in public engagement, sustainable building design and retrofit. Meg has been a lecturer for 2nd + 3rd year architecture students for the past 5 years, and curated a lecture series focussing on design for climate emergency that ran for 2 years. During her summers, she assists with running a residency programme in Lithuania for students, focussing on connections to landscape.

Ollie is a furniture designer and builder specialising in circular design and modern fabrication techniques. He has 10 years experience working on high-end retail and hospitality interiors projects, as well as running creative community projects for educational charities for children and young people.

We both have a hands-on practice and are investigative and creative designers, always looking for the most efficient, sustainable yet joyful solutions. We have lots of experience collaborating with different consultants and stakeholders to achieve a common goal - whether that be a high quality finish on a building project or organising a complex community event.

Over the past few months travelling and volunteering through WWOOF and Workaway we have deepened our interest in permaculture and natural building techniques - both themes we'd love to explore more deeply.
