Hi everyone,

My name is Mayya and I am a 25 y.o. Russian living in San Francisco.

I am returning back on workaway after 5 long years!!! It feels very nostalgic because the last time I used it was in 2018 when I travelled in Italy over my gap year prior to coming to the United States. Since 2018, I have been living in the US, initially as a student at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, and currently as a young professional in San Francisco. While I am presently taking a work break, my prior role was with a non-profit that helps individuals facing extreme poverty in East Africa

I am an experienced and adventurous traveler with an experience of living in Russia, Italy, Egypt and the US. At this moment of my life, I am looking for a way to authentically experience Hawaiian culture, live sustainably on the land and connect with wonderful individuals. In the past, Workaway hosts enriched my understanding of local cultures and enabled me to explore places beyond the typical tourist viewpoint.

I am ready to help with any kind of projects, from farming, weeding, gardening, general maintenance, non-profit work and etc. I do not have a lot of experience with large vehicles such as chainsaws and lawn movers but I am a quick learner :) I understand that after the devastating wildfires, Maui is experiencing hard times. I would like to come and be helpful to the people of the island in the best possible way.

My travel plans are set for October. Ideally, I would like to start my journey in early October and stay for about 3 weeks. I am open to discussing an extended stay if circumstances require.

I am pretty much fluent in three languages (English, Russian and Italian). I also speak a bit of Arabic, including Egyptian dialect. Happy to share my knowledge and teach English or Russian.

I can do any type of physical work including gardening, weeding, home care, cleaning, building and farming. I grew up in a community where farming and house keeping were a part of daily routine so I am pretty familiar with this kind of work.

I also have a lot of experience of babysitting children of various ages (6 months-11 y.o.).

I enjoy teaching and have some experience of teaching and tutoring English and Russian to children of various ages.
