Hello World!
My name is Maxime but everyone calls me Max. I started my career as an electronic technician but after my degree and working for a year in that field I realised that I was definitely made to explore and enjoy adventures with people. With that reflection I decided to become an Adventure Guide by graduating in an outdoor program in Canada. I ended up working as a Climbing, SnowMobile and Rafting Guide. Between my busy seasons of work, I travelled to different countries such as Chile and New Zealand to share these experiences with others.
As my next goal, this winter I am going to Japan with a Work Holiday Visa. One of the best aspects of working a winter season in Japan is the fact that you get to experience the amazing culture in addition to the snow. I have been interested in Japanese culture from an early age with the anime/movies that I watched as a child and the Nintendo video games that I played along with many other things! Also, I heard the food is awesome in Japan, plus the benefit of Japanese cultural activities such as a Japanese sauna after a long day working or hitting the powder. I strongly want to learn as much as possible of the Japanese Language while I am there as well. I am planning to be working/visiting Japan for potentially a year.Interests

I did an Outdoor Adventure Guide Program that thought me good communication in a groupe, costumer service, cooking, first aid, gear maintenance and repair, technical outdoor skills, flaura and fauna identification(Canada) and survival/emergency protocols necessary to guide people in many outdoor activities.
During my many years of guiding I also developed guest education, clear communication skills, working with kids, commercial cooking, cleaning, driving up to 16 passengers in a small commercial bus, guiding class 2-4+ rapids, rescue training, raft repair, trail crew, trip leading, robe access, snowmobile operation, office work and scheduling, general maintenance, navigating in avalanche terrain.
I also learned few useful skills during my travels like a lot of volunteering in organic farms in New Zealand, housekeeping, selling fruit, driving manual cars (right or left side) and navigated through a 3 months expedition (hike / inflatable boat) in Patagonia (Chile).

I went directly to François and Noriko places as soon as I came to Japan and stayed for almost a month. It was definitely the best idea. They welcome me very well in their Japanese traditional home (Komika) that they are currently renovating while both having a part time job. I learned so much of Japanese culture… read more
